𝗖𝗿𝘂𝗶𝘀𝗲 𝗖𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗔𝗹𝘁𝗼𝗻𝗮🚢 𝗶𝘀 𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝗹𝗮𝗿𝗴𝗲 𝗰𝗿𝘂𝗶𝘀𝗲 𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗹𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗛𝗮𝗺𝗯𝘂𝗿𝗴, located on the Lower Elbe, is about 100 kilometers from where the Elbe flows into the North Sea 🌊. It is nevertheless considered a seaport ⚓, as it can be called at by seagoing vessels with a draught of up to 15 meters. Smaller cruise vessels, including older "pots" from the AIDA fleet 🛳️, often moor at Cruise Center Altona. The environmentally friendly facilities of the Cruise Center Altona are particularly noteworthy 🌱. Since 2016, ships can be 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗱 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿⚡𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲. The 𝗔𝗜𝗗𝗔𝘀𝗼𝗹 🛳️ 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝘃𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗹 𝘁𝗼 𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲. The shore power supply allows the ships to switch off their engines while they are docked, which leads to a significant reduction in emissions. The Cruise Center Altona opened in 2011 with a quay length of 360 meters 📏. Ships up to 300 meters long can dock there. In 2023, SFT delivered 2 foam filled Ocean Guard Fenders with a diameter of 3000 x 4500mm and a weight of 4,500 kg. The terminal impresses with its central location 🌍: the famous fish market 🎣 and the Oevelgönne museum harbor 🏛️ are within easy walking distance, allowing travelers to experience Hamburg's maritime flair up close. To implement something new, many obstacles have to be overcome. 🚆 When introducing a transnational railway service between Trieste (Villa Opicina) and Rijeka, #slovenskezeleznice had to deal with infrastructure works on the route, limited sales possibilities of international tickets and limited number of bicycle stands in the train. 👩🦰👱♂️🧑🦳🧓 Relevant stakeholders from local to national level were involved, assisting in tailoring the service and recommending possible future improvements. Transnational cooperation was necessary as well, and following up a very successful launch event, 8️⃣2️⃣7️⃣3️⃣ passengers & 4️⃣2️⃣5️⃣ bicycles were transported from April 24 to September 30. Mobility choices increased and carbon footprint decreased - 185 gCO2e was saved. An expert on cross-border railway service reviewed the service and emphasized the positive aspects: price and carbon neutrality, but there is also room for growth and improvements. We showed that the service is possible and needed and thus staying positive that it continues in 2025!

Challenging and innovative solutions to reduce air pollution by 25 percent in specific areas of the City of Diamonds. This is the goal of Air Break - Ferrara, a European project that we have been following from 2020 to the end of 2023 alongside the lead partner Municipality of Ferrara and which today experienced a further stage with the visit of the #EU auditor to see the urban requalification interventions and investments made.   Among them:  ✅ the installation of 4 Smart Hubs by Gruppo Hera for charging electric bikes (and more); ✅ the restyling and construction of several new sections of the bike path from Corso Isonzo to the Bridge of Peace via Via Mulinetto and Via dello Zucchero; ✅ the planting of 1,900 new plants including rows of privets and other species for CO2 absorption and another 320 trees in cooperation with Sipro Agenzia per lo sviluppo - Ferrara in various green areas of the city; ✅ the installation of 14 air quality measurement units in various parts of the city; ✅ the installation of 2 outdoor digital displays; ✅ street furniture works; ✅ much more... The experience of Livorno's Creative Hangars as an example of a participatory approach to urban regeneration. In #Livorno (Italy), the Creative Hangar project has transformed a former public transport site into a dynamic cultural district with theatres, creative industries and green spaces. A 3 meter wide #bicycle lane (9.8 feet) - each way! - sounds gloriously spacious. It's sized to accommodate an increase in the number of cyclists. As you can see in this video, it also allows for side by side riding. Too many of Seattle's bike lanes are door zone #sharrows or gutter bike lanes - with no protection, and no futureproofing and capacity for increased usage, or allowing parents to ride side by side with their kiddos. Seattle has had 6 people die on our roads in just the last week. We can no longer afford to be complacent to the growing crisis of road safety. We need brave and visionary #leadership - like Anne Hidalgo, like Valérie Plante, like Matúš Vallo - who will prioritize #climateaction, #safestreets, and #publichealth. All topics foundational to my forthcoming book. Unfortunately, no one seems willing to step up here.
