The Township of Upper St. Clair's Boyce Mayview Park represents more than green space – it is a destination for residents and families living in Pittsburgh's South Hills. Featuring a 90,000 square-foot state-of-the-art community and recreation center, community gardens, and miles of trail systems that wind through its combined 475 acres, the park was designed and engineered by Gateway and partners and opened to the public in June 2009. Gateway Engineers' CEO, Jason D. Jesso, PMP, recently led our summer interns on a site visit to Boyce Mayview, surveying the park's many features to demonstrate Gateway's integrated engineering and design solutions. On this special day of the year, we invite you to consider giving to the Department of Construction Management at Fresno State. Quick fact: CM Department houses 3 degree programs (with fall 2023 enrollment): BS Construction Management (182), BS Architectural Studies (134), MS Construction Management (23). More than 50 students graduating from the department annually with nearly perfect job placement rates at the time of graduation. About 60 construction and architecture firms recruit from us. In Summer 2023, more than 60 students conducted internships across the State of California. Median Salary Level at the time of graduation is between $70-80K. Why Give? Student Excellence and Success are always at the heart of what we do. In addition to academic undertakings, our students generate impacts and demonstrate Bulldog spirit via participation in national and regional competitions, service-learning activities, student club activities, professional networking, career-oriented workshops and bootcamps. How to Give? Follow the link below and Choose Departments/Programs where you can directly contribute to CM and AS initiatives. How Much Should You Give? We appreciate every single $ you generously give us and promise to spend them to its most full potential! While it's the day of giving for you, for us, it's the day of appreciation and dreaming big!

More work we are doing in OETM to be more agile in delivery of multimodal transportation improvements!
I spoke to VPM last week about the Lighter, Quicker, Cheaper program I've been developing during my City internship. The "planning-by-doing" tactical urbanism mindset can address transportation needs quickly and build support for traditional infrastructure investments. Lighter, Quicker, Cheaper projects invite community engagement in planning by bringing the process directly to the streets! LQC is just one strategy of many in the RVA Connects Action Plan to improve biking, walking, and taking the bus in Richmond-- if the article leaves you wanting more, check out rvaconnects.com for the full draft Action Plan and map of projects.

Please use this 4-easy-step framework as a conversation starter with manufacturers to request transparency in the supply chain!
BWBR was thrilled to welcome primary researcher Joon Ta for a two-semester internship as part of the University of Minnesota Master of Science in Architecture – Applied Research in Practice (MS-ARP) program. Joon dug deep into the complexities of the issue of modern slavery with the intent of providing usable guidance for design professionals, and the resulting project is a four-step framework to help designers recognize and mitigate the risks of forced labor within the supply chain of specified building materials. https://loom.ly/KREvejU

Success in any industry often begins with a spark of curiosity and an introduction to the possibilities. In construction, our journeys are as diverse as the structures we build. Sometimes, it's a family connection—a summer job with a relative's construction company—or perhaps, you stumble upon it unexpectedly, realizing there's a world of opportunity you didn't know existed. At Grand Valley, we're all about igniting that spark and breaking down barriers. Through initiatives like our Legacy Builders program, we're reaching out to students as early as grade seven, opening their eyes to the world of skilled trades. 📚🔧 But it doesn't stop there. Even if you're deep into a bachelor's degree with no clear path ahead, we introduce you to skilled trades programs. It's all about hands-on experience, trying the trades, and discovering your passion. More often than not, people fall in love with it and embark on a career they never thought possible. Construction is more than a job; it's a journey filled with endless opportunities. 🏢✨ #ConstructionCareers #SkilledTrades #CareerExploration #BuildingTheFuture #GrandValleyOpportunities

The good weather last week meant we could fly the drone for this overhead look at the SAGE Center Expansion! https://lnkd.in/gK2C5mJf This expansion project at the SAGE Center is adding 15,150 square feet of much-needed convention space for our region. The project is paid for in part by State funding to support cultural arts and workforce training events. House Bill 2006, which was passed at the end of the 2021 Oregon Legislative session, appropriates $4.3 million for the construction of the facility. #portofmorrow #ports #portindustry #portoperations #workingwaterfront #columbiariver #industry #oregonindustry #visitsage #workforcedevelopment #innovationandentreprenuership #workforce #economicdevelopment #jobready #workready #womenintrades #internships #apprenticeships #skilledtrades #jobopportunities #careerdevelopment

The sum of all the parts is greater than any individual 🩷 #teamworkmakesthedreamwork Read Anna Howell’s article … and exactly WHAT is Urban Design? Robert Huxford ??? Urban Design Group
Last week, Anna and Huda had the privilege of attending Lord Williams School’s career fest, which got the edge team thinking about our individual routes into urban design and how we have come together via such varied paths. Head to the edge website to read Anna's thoughts on why these varied routes actually create an opportunity to build a 'superteam' in an exciting and ever-evolving profession! #urbandesign #masterplanning #urbandesigner #careers #placemaking https://lnkd.in/eguzmycM

As a career path and journey to qualification, architecture cannot be a one-size-fits-all sector, writes Ayo Ambali.
"We must dispel the idea that there is only one way of becoming a qualified architect"
