It was my great pleasure to interview my old friend and colleague 奥田浩人Hirohito Okuda. We discussed some of the challenges of AI in Medical Software. One point that he made was that with Generative AI, the biggest challenge is that the risks involved are not well understood. We also discussed issues ranging from creating requirements, verification, explainability and ethical issues in this area. This is the last of the interviews we recorded as part of the launch of our new certificate program in Medical Software and Medical AI (https://lnkd.in/eMz9trQQ.) There are some additional interviews in the works. For the complete set of these interviews see: https://lnkd.in/e7bHsX2X.
🌟 Listen now on Spotify, or watch on YouTube! This interview is part of our guest expert series for the new Yale Certificate Program on #MedicalSoftware and #MedicalAI. Our guest is Mr. 奥田浩人Hirohito Okuda. Mr Okuda has close to 30 years of working experience in the medical device industry. Currently he is a principal AI engineer at KONICA MINOLTA, INC., Japan where he directs #AI engineering across the company, leads #generativeAI adaptation, helps to establish #AIguidelines and is also a member of the #AIethics review committee that reviews all AI products across the company. Prior to that he was for 2 years an AI R&D division manager at DeNA and for 10 years prior he was a software engineering division manager at GE, Japan. Before that, he spent two years as a research software engineer at Yale University. The interview was recorded on Dec 6, 2023. Futurist, technology researcher, iconoclast, inventor; and agent of change for LGBTQ equality/inclusion. I don't speak for any organization unless explicitly stated otherwise.
EDITED TO ADD: to be CRYSTAL CLEAR about professionalism in the face of last weeks' news, I learned of these reqs before I had any information (only vague rumors) about what was going on at Intel. So to be safe I added "too early to start circling" below deliberately so there would be no question of poaching or kicking a company when they're down. I have enough investment (in decades of my life and undiversified stock) to wish Intel any ill will at all, and I mostly loathe schadenfreude in principle. Meena Arunachalam's original post about these reqs was made *several weeks ago.* #togetherweadvance is AMD's slogan, but as tech workers, I personally would apply it in this case individually and as a group to my colleagues throughout the industry. ---- [Original post] ------------------- It's too early for vultures to start circling my old #intel colleagues, but if you're interested in #AI, you might consider some of the opportunities with my colleague at #AMD wherever you are working now. This company is going places in AI. #togetherweadvance
