The paradigm of data privacy in the U.S. is experiencing a shift. With state regulations emphasizing due diligence and structured risk assessments, businesses are compelled to advance from mere compliance to active data protection strategies. This heralds a new era of transparency and responsibility. Now, as regulators reveal more stringent practices, it prompts a reflective question to corporate stewards: Are we as vigilant with our digital assets as we are with our physical ones? The full scope of these changes and their implications are discussed in a recent Law.com article, showcasing the transformation of privacy in our data-driven age. Do you know if your privacy policy has been updated since the pandemic?? As we move into 2025, the importance of privacy has never been clearer. The rapid pace of technological advancement since the pandemic (especially with AI) reshapes how data is collected, stored, and shared. Recently, I visited three different websites to check their privacy policies. What I found was eye-opening: One website’s policy hadn’t been updated since 2014. Another was last reviewed in 2018. The most recent one? 2020. Given how much has changed in the digital landscape over the past decade—from new privacy regulations like GDPR and CCPA to the growing sophistication of cyber threats—these outdated policies highlight a critical gap. Privacy and security aren’t just compliance checkboxes but are foundational to trust and business resilience. In 2025, organizations must view data protection as a living, breathing part of their strategy that evolves with the times. Here at #KirkpatrickPrice, we have a dedicated privacy team that is the best in the industry to help you on your journey in 2025.
