At Gayler Design Build, we love finding ways to maximize both form and function in every project. One of our favorite design touches? Integrating the countertop right into the window frame ✨ In this recent San Ramon remodel, we eliminated the need for a traditional window sill, allowing us to install a larger window that floods the room with natural light 🌞 Not only does this give the space a sleek, modern look, but it also provides more usable surface area. Win-win 🙌 It's the little details like this that make a big difference in creating a truly custom home. What do you think—could you see this in your next remodel? #designinnovation #customremodel #contracostacounty

With the change of season, we are focused on the cosy side of design. In a room designed as part of a whole penthouse apartment reconfiguration – and that started life with a few sharp corners – we have created this warmly inviting nook to reflect space, light, and cosy curves using the smoke and mirrors of bronze toned shelves, warm wood floors, bespoke mirrored panels and biomorphic shapes. The velvety textures and rounded shapes of the soft seating sit either side of a coffee table in a spot that invites a cosy chat, an engaging read, or an intimate gossip while 'spilling the tea' (not literally, of course!). Whatever warms the cockles … Good design always takes care with all of the details – from harnessing the natural resources to managing the shape, size, and tactility of the finishings. If you are a developer, in need of a one stop design service across a whole property, or someone in need of a rethink of a single important space, get in touch via the contact button on our website – link, as always, in bio 👆 @marywadsworth1 @sohohome #daytruehome #daytrue #daytruedesign #daytruedeveloperdesign #penthousedesign #penthouseapartmentstyle #penthouseflatdesign #designfordevelopers #totaldesignservice #biophilicdesign

Pocket doors offer a sleek, space-saving solution, while partitioned doors provide a more traditional look. Let's break down the key differences: 🏠 Space Efficiency: Pocket doors slide into the wall, maximizing floor space, while partitioned doors swing out, requiring room to open. ✨ Aesthetics: Pocket doors create a clean, minimalist look, while partitioned doors offer a wider range of design options. 🛠️ Installation Complexity: Pocket doors require careful planning and installation, while partitioned doors are a more straightforward process. 💰 Cost: Pocket doors generally have a higher initial cost due to the necessary wall cavity. Ultimately, the best choice depends on your home's layout, personal style, and budget. Would you get a pocket door in your home? #newyorkcitylife #designandbuild #renovatinghome #homebuild #remodelingcontractors

For today's post, I wanted to share another hallway design. This hallway is different than any other hallway I've designed before. This will be a sensory experience where visitors will be able to "Choose Their Own Adventure" on how they want to take in this passageway. The main focal points will be the walls and flooring. The walls will be studded with gems like amethyst, blue lace agate, and sodalite which are known to create a calming energy. People can touch them to soak their calming energy as they journey from the busy "Elemental Serenity Safari" to the serene atmosphere of May's "SereniSpace Suite." The flooring will be a whole different ball game. There are two types of flooring. One floor will be a regular standard flooring where you can get up close with the gems. However, if a visitor feels daring, there is an option where visitors can walk on grass, sand, or moss (or all three surfaces) and ground themselves while taking in the energy. There is still more work to this passageway. Share your thoughts in the comments section below. #ImmersiveDesign #EventProfs #ExhibitDesign #MeetingProfs #ExperientialDesign #SpatialDesign #Design #Experience

A well-designed staircase is often more than just a functional element—it can be a defining feature of a custom-built home. When paired with liminal space that connects the interior to the outside, the staircase becomes a focal point that enhances both the aesthetic and the experience of the home. Liminal space, such as large windows, open landings, or seamless transitions to outdoor terraces, brings natural light and exterior views into the home. When incorporated into the staircase design, it creates a sense of flow and openness, blurring the line between indoors and outdoors. This connection to nature adds depth to the home’s design, making the space feel larger and more dynamic. From an architectural perspective, a staircase that integrates these transitional spaces doesn’t just offer visual appeal—it creates a natural rhythm within the home, encouraging movement and enhancing the overall atmosphere. The result is a space that feels both functional and artful, balancing modern design with a connection to the outdoors. #ArchitecturalDesign #CustomHomes #StaircaseDesign #LiminalSpace
