3moPride in London Christopher Joell-Deshields would be nice to acknowledge and credit Robin Tyler, who first coined the phrase ‘we are everywhere’ Robyn Tyler is a lesbian comic, feminist, and pioneer in the grassroots struggle for LGBTQ civil rights and marriage equality in the U.S. Robin Tyler introduced this phrase during the organization of the first National March on Washington for Lesbian and Gay Rights in 1979. "We are everywhere" became the powerful signature chant of the 1979 march, appearing on banners and posters. This slogan has since continued as a popular rallying cry for LGBTQ equality. Tyler played a significant role in LGBTQ activism, producing and emceeing the main stages for the first three historic lesbian and gay marches on Washington DC. The first march, which took place on October 14, 1979, brought between 75,000 and 125,000 LGBTQ people to the Washington Monument grounds. It's worth noting that while Robin Tyler coined this specific phrase for the LGBTQ movement, similar expressions have been used in various contexts throughout history. However, in the context of LGBTQ rights and visibility, Robin Tyler is credited with originating this powerful and enduring slogan.
