Ministry of Justice/Ministry of Interior Commissario Capo/Correctional Chief Commissioner/Deputy Commander/Linemanager
The well-being of Polizia penitenziaria Corps Personnel: Department of Penitentiary Administration and LUMSA Sign an agreement on promoting well-being and organizational processes in the penitentiary system. In the past four years, the Department of Penitentiary Administration (DAP) has implemented several initiatives aimed at promoting and maintaining the physical, psychological, and social well-being of prison police personnel. These initiatives aim to improve workplace well-being and productivity by focusing on motivation and a sense of belonging. Key elements such as collaboration, involvement, proper information circulation, flexibility, and trust have been considered essential to enhance physical and psychological well-being, thereby increasing satisfaction and productivity. Psychological support has also been provided for prison officers who need it due to stress or discomfort related to their service. One of the DAP's most recent initiatives is an agreement with LUMSA University, aimed at promoting well-being and improving organizational processes within the prison system. This scientific collaboration seeks to identify risk factors that can cause discomfort among prison police personnel and to design new organizational processes to enhance the well-being of the staff and the entire system. In particular, LUMSA, in collaboration with the DAS Research Center (Right to Hope), has launched the project "Psychological Sciences for the Mental Health of Prison Police Personnel and Organizational Well-Being." This research project aims to study the factors causing discomfort (such as environment, role, and interrelations among colleagues) with groups of researchers coordinated by university professors. The field research will be conducted in three Italian cities (Milan, Palermo, and Rome), involving two penitentiary institutes in each city and a sample of about 200 people. https://lnkd.in/dXeV9sBU https://lnkd.in/d_mPJcAt

Let’s Talk. Historically, penitentiaries were indeed intended to be places of penitence, places where individuals could reflect on their actions and bring about a change in their nature and empathy. But with sentences like LWOP, we must ask ourselves: what is the purpose of incarceration? Is it punishment or transformation? Is it retribution or rehabilitation? As a society and a nation, these are the questions we need to consider. #BeyondLWOP #SecondChances
