Our 2023 sustainability report has been published, and I extend my gratitude to the committed teams at Forbo Flooring Systems for their remarkable contributions. Among our accomplishments, we have launched circular-ready "Fast Flooring" solutions in every product category. Impressively, we have cut our greenhouse gas emissions by 36% since 2019 (Scope 1 and 2), a testament to our dedication to environmental stewardship. Our Marmoleum flooring, the first of its kind to be carbon positive from cradle to gate without resorting to offsets, has established a new benchmark for the industry. With the expansion of our "Back to the Floor" program to 13 countries, we're leading the way in recycling and reuse efforts. Furthermore, we've successfully incorporated an average of 37% recycled content across our products. These milestones underscore our unwavering commitment to fostering a sustainable future. Why Some Companies Are Doubling Down on Climate Action At a glance, it might seem that Steelcase has bigger things to worry about than its carbon footprint. As a maker of office furniture for big corporations across the globe, the company faces a challenging business environment as employees work remotely and offices remain unoccupied. But CEO Sara Armbruster says the business environment has only strengthened the argument for the company’s sustainability efforts. Large corporate customers are routinely demanding information about the carbon footprint of Steelcase’s products, she says, and sustainability programs have become a factor in office furniture purchasing decisions. With that in mind, the company has doubled the percentage of recycled content in its packaging since 2020, installed solar panels at manufacturing plants, and launched a program to help its suppliers cut their own emissions. https://lnkd.in/esiBuNHE

Circularity requires us all working together. It means thinking differently to deconstruct systems that have failed us. It means building bridges instead of silos. It will be uncomfortable as we transition, and it might even be a little messy and imperfect. For me the transition meant leaving my corporate life behind and taking a huge foundational leap into a company that is doing more good than bad. I’m so proud of what the team at Green Standards accomplishes on a daily basis. We are working hard to educate and build an inclusive movement towards a more circular workplace. #circularworkplace

The “Three Rs”—which is most important? Recycling is incredibly valuable from a sustainability perspective, but the other two “Rs” deserve some love too. In fact, there’s a reason why “Reduce” comes first!
