Huge milestone achieved by GBE, Multiplex, and Stanhope PLC on the 76 Southbank project today. The South Multiservice Riser has now been installed from the basement to the top floor. This riser houses the building's primary pipework, ductwork, and electrical services, with each double floor module measuring 7m in height, 3.5m x 3.8m in length and width, and 6-tonne dead weight. We worked with a 35mm tolerance within the shaft, making it a significant lift that required precision engineering, detailed planning and clear communication from start to finish. Traditionally, this complete activity would have taken 3 months on site, with multiple trades working in a high-risk open shaft environment. However, the project accomplished this installation in 5 days, having completed all M&E works, floor installation, QA & snagging and test lifts, off-site over the past three months out at GBE’s Modular Division run by George Stollery .
