An excellent initiative with proven positive results.
157 Southfield School, Kettering Year 11s and 30 staff are now on their way to Whitemoor Lakes Activity & Training Centre in Staffordshire for our annual 4 day revision/activity weekend. This will be the ninth year that we have run this activity and each year, the majority of our students claim that this was one of the most successful activities in boosting their GCSE results in the core subjects. Students also comment on how much fun they had and the lasting memories they created whilst there. As part of our new Academy Trust and our ongoing collaboration with other schools, Kingsthorpe College and Moulton School & Science College will also be sending some of their students on the trip. Have a good time everyone and #ReachYourFullPotential

Embracing Individuality As time passes and years in the field of education accumulate, it becomes more and more apparent to that no two students are alike. We set a curriculum of study, we attempt to educate as many students as we can at any given time in the traditional classroom. However, this most assuredly does not guarantee that all students are receiving the instruction they need. Furthermore, students' learning and working styles differ. It is not reasonable that all students be painted with one brush and be expected to succeed. We at Westbrook foster discovering the uniqueness of each of our students and applying what we learn to our respective teaching approach. It is thrilling to observe how students thrive in a learning environment and with a teaching style that is perfectly aligned to them. If this approach sounds empowering for your child who may be floundering in the tradition school system, or who may not be achieving his/her fullest potential, please consider a consultation with Westbrook where Nicole and her team equip students, one by one, to thrive through dedicating time and effort identifying learning style and implementing the same in all areas of your child's scholastic experience.

Beyond Proud of You Mark! To all of my educators if you have any words of wisdom for my younger brother please drop them in the comment section!
Making My Mark 📍 • Senior, Middle Grades Education Major at Fort Valley State University • Aspiring Educator in the K-12 School System • Member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.
My first year of teaching has finally kicked off as today was Open House at Perry Middle School! Welcome to Mr. Nooks' 8th Grade ELA and SS class. I want to first thank God for placing me in the right places at the right time. I also want to thank Dr. Lazunia Frierson, Ed. D., Dr. Heath Burch, and the Perry Middle School Administration for taking a risk and hiring me as a student in FVSU's Education Program, allowing me to complete my last semester of Direct Teaching. That’s history in itself, and I plan to make my MARK. Mrs. Duran has been the glue for all of this, as she is my mentoring teacher and is always there in case I need anything. Although I’m nervous, I know I am more than capable. Let’s work. Houston County Board of Education #blackmenineducation #Alphamenineducation

And there was a time when I thought that was a funny idea. I don’t remember the in between. The idea of separating by age is a bit funny, right? (𝘐𝘮𝘢𝘨𝘪𝘯𝘦 𝘥𝘰𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘢𝘵 𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘬?!) And, it also makes sense how this just ended up being what we do in many schools. What is your experience? ➡️ 𝙒𝙝𝙚𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧 𝙞𝙣 𝙨𝙘𝙝𝙤𝙤𝙡 𝙤𝙧 𝙗𝙪𝙨𝙞𝙣𝙚𝙨𝙨, 𝙨𝙤𝙢𝙚𝙩𝙞𝙢𝙚𝙨 𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙮 𝙜𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙩 𝙞𝙣𝙩𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙨 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙣𝙚𝙘𝙚𝙨𝙨𝙞𝙩𝙮 𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙤𝙪𝙧𝙖𝙜𝙚 𝙖 𝙥𝙧𝙖𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙘𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙞𝙨 𝙣𝙤 𝙡𝙤𝙣𝙜𝙚𝙧 𝙗𝙚𝙨𝙩 𝙨𝙚𝙧𝙫𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙪𝙨. The process of being curious about that is often the purpose and lesson, for me at least. I’m grateful for this school community and for those who’ve gone before us in reimagining a learning environment based upon trusting children. We asked Saint Louis Sudbury School students what aspects of the Sudbury school model do they find important? 💙 A student said, "I'm very fond of the mixed ages. I think it's very important to be surrounded by people of all ages rather than just your age group because it teaches people to have fun and to respect each other regardless of the age gap." The Maritime Industry needs new workers in all segments - our workforce is aging out. Deck workers, pilots, shipbuilding, ports, infrastructure, technical service, engineering, administration, ferry workers, fishing, research, oil & gas offshore platforms, and the list goes on! No matter your gender, the Maritime Industry offers a great scale of pay and many advantages over a traditional job. The work you do is important. #maritimeindustry #marineindustry #shipbuilding #maritime
I have had the pleasure of connecting with multiple community organizations that support BIPOC and underserved communities. I have been able to share the opportunities that students have to gain skills and earn credentials that can lead to access to living wage jobs after graduation. If you'd like to discuss what Maritime High School has to offer, please reach out.
