Ever looked out of a hotel window and thought, 'Wow'? Here’s how we took that 'wow' and turned it up a notch. 👇 At the Holiday Inn Southend, we transformed ordinary windows into panoramic showcases. Why it mattered. ⤷ Beyond the aesthetic appeal, we aimed to enhance guest comfort and privacy, elevating the room's ambience and the dining experience to new heights. How we did it. ⤷ Selecting high-specification curtains and voiles, we ensured each window treatment not only captured the essence of luxury but also functioned to meet the diverse needs of guests and spaces within the hotel. The result. ⤷ An immersive experience where guests can dine under the stars at the 1935 Rooftop Restaurant or unwind in their rooms, all while enjoying a seamless blend of the outside beauty and interior sophistication. This project highlights our commitment to enhancing environments through thoughtful design and high-quality installations. Creating comfort in hotel design is as much about how a space feels as how it looks. In recent years, the hospitality industry has shifted towards incorporating familiar, home-like features into their designs. From cosy lounge spaces to flexible rooms that double as workstations, hotels are adapting to meet the growing demand for environments that offer a sense of ease and comfort, much like home. This blog highlights how residential design trends are bringing thoughtful, home-inspired elements into hotel spaces. Features like cosy seating areas, personalised lighting, and flexible workstations are becoming central to hotel design, creating a seamless blend of comfort and sophistication. Hotels are incorporating these features to offer a sense of both comfort and luxury, allowing guests to relax and feel at home. Looking ahead, the blog also considers the future of hotel design, where flexibility and personalisation will shape the guest experience. Older-style hotels have a certain charm to them. Characterised by classical architecture, generous layouts, grand lobbies, traditional decor and plush furnishings. These elements bring a sense of timeless elegance and hospitality. In contrast, newer-styled hotels prioritise modern lifestyles, where design and functionality take centre stage. Minimalist aesthetics, mood lighting, sleek furnishings, and integrated technologies define the experience, offering a seamless blend of comfort and contemporary sophistication. Staying in each type of establishment tends to evoke distinct feelings and bring about unique experiences. I stayed in an older-style hotel recently. While the mark of time was evident, it was well appointed and maintained, remained comfortable and thoughtfully upgraded. What stood out was their service, attentive, warm and unobtrusive. There was a quiet confidence to it. It reminds me of when I was with an old hotelier some time ago. We met at a sleek, modern hotel where he was staying, which happened to belong to a rival group. He was checking out the competition. To him, facilities are important, but the core mission of hospitality is service. His conclusion, they had the “hardware but lack the software”. 💼 In careers and life, new and trendy may not always win. Sometimes, there is little substitute for enduring qualities that stand the test of time. 🏡 I usually prefer new and well-designed hotels, but it’s refreshing to revisit a classic. There is a reason why classics remain classics.

Why Not Use Pendant Sprinklers in Hotel Guest Rooms? While pendant sprinklers (the traditional type that hangs down from the ceiling) are commonly used in many settings, they may not always be the best choice for hotel guest rooms due to several factors. Here’s why sidewall sprinklers are often preferred over pendant sprinklers in hotel guest rooms: 1. Aesthetic Considerations Less Visible: In luxury hotel rooms, pendant sprinklers, which hang down from the ceiling, can be more noticeable and may disrupt the room's design or aesthetic appeal. Sidewall sprinklers, on the other hand, are mounted closer to the wall and blend more seamlessly with the room's design.
