As we commemorate Juneteenth, we celebrate a pivotal moment in American history—the day when the last enslaved African Americans in Galveston, Texas, were informed of their freedom on June 19, 1865, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation. This day symbolizes not just the end of slavery, but also the enduring strength and resilience of Black communities. As Chief Diversity Officer, I am honored to join in recognizing this significant day. Juneteenth reminds us of the importance of freedom and equality, and the ongoing journey toward achieving these ideals for all. It’s a moment for us to reflect on the progress we've made and the work still ahead to dismantle systemic racism and foster an inclusive environment where everyone can thrive. I am from the American South so it is especially important to me that we show that racism, whether subtle or overt, has no place in today's society. At GE Vernova, our commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) is more than just policy—it’s a core value that drives our mission and vision. We are dedicated to creating a workplace where every voice is heard, every background is respected, and every individual is given the opportunity to succeed. 2moWell Reginald J. Miller I think you should check with the leadership at GE-Hitachi because the last time I was on contract there, this day was neither observed nor talked about. The team I worked on had a mix of Canadian and US employees, so it may not have been a holiday for the Canadians, but some US employees worked. The holiday wasn't talked about by management either. I think this should not be allowed to continue.
