So today, I received this Phone/Device fast/ High powered charger from Amazon sealed in its original box. It comes with the usual Figure of 8 socket rated at 2.5A. As can be seen, the Unit is supposedly CE marked. It is this interesting to note that the unit is rated at a max of 3A ( on a 2.5A rated lead/ connector). This was just the start. The unit didnt work out of the box! On further investigation it would appear that the 13A fuse in the plug was blown already ( and the contacts on either end of the fuse carbonised with black). Ok, this was changed and still no power through the lead. I metered out the lead and there was no connection between the 13A plug on either Live or Neutral? Changing the lead for my trusty Sky box lead fused at 3A, the unit works perfectly! Please, Please, Please can somebody tell me why we waste significant amounts of monies in developing Compliance - if it isnt worth the paper it is written on! (Incidently the 13A plug on the end of the fig of 8 cable actually had 3A max stamped on it!)

Our charger looked like Frankenstein but it worked! My siblings and I were ecstatic we could use the phone again. Back then you didn’t carry a charger with you at all times. Nokia’s battery lasted for a week, even two. We were on vacation, playing Snake on my sister’s phone until it turned off. We didn’t have a charger and it was a Sunday so the shops were closed. As we were sitting there all disappointed, our dad found a box of random broken cables in the house we were renting. He sat on the floor and started putting things together. From afar you could think he was playing with Legos. It seemed fun! We joined him and watched intensely as he weaved the copper strands together. A few moments later, we ended up with a funny-looking charger without a head. “Ready?” he asked. The excitement in the room was palpable. We plugged what seemed like a random group of wires into the phone, and lo and behold – it lit up! Fast forward to today, I often get asked: “How the heck did you even come up with this?!” This is the reason. It’s because, from a young age, I watched my parents solve all kinds of problems, big or small – by using their creativity and rather simple, limited resources at hand. They showed me that nothing is too hard to get. And most importantly, that figuring stuff out is fun. This spirit of innovation and fun is the heartbeat of our creative agency where we thrive on challenges, turning them into unexpected opportunities. Just like assembling a charger from a box of odds and ends, we find unique solutions that not only work but make you truly stand out (they do happen to be prettier than what my dad had made, promise). We’re excited to roll up our sleeves with you. Whenever you're ready. PS. My dad’s an engineer. Please don’t attempt to make your own charger. There are other creative ways to get your phone charged that I'm sure are much safer 😅
