Did you know that Mt. Olympus is Greece’s first and largest national park?
And did you know that the wildfire that devastated the Dadia-Lefkimi-Soufli Forest National Park in Greece this past August was the most severe and devastating fire disaster ever recorded in the European Union?
The risk of wildfire disaster and the occurrence of megafires in Greece are increasing.
For #GivingTuesday, if you want to give to help reduce wildfire disaster risk in Greece, here is a great organization and project. The Ecogenia #PathToOlympus campaign will directly support Ecogenia’s work in 2024, when they’ll launch their first disaster management program in the Mt. Olympus area, combining ecotourism impact with wildfire prevention and community preparedness.
This project will also contribute to positive impact beyond Mt. Olympus and in the long-term for Greece, because Ecogenia is working to become a national youth climate corps, where thousands of young Greeks are empowered to contribute to climate action through civic service in local communities, paid training opportunities, and hands-on introductions to potential career paths.

How are we leaving a positive mark on Olympus? ⛰️
By demonstrating the role youth in civic service can play to build more resilient communities and protect national parks and forest lands.
So what will this look like?
🟢 Over 3,000 hours served by our 10 cohort members
🟢 Over 150 community members directly involved
🟢 Over 50 km of trail and land protected
Do you want to be a part of preserving the one and only Mt. Olympus and enabling young Greeks to lead this work?
