Safran Aircraft Engines announced an investment plan of more than €1 billion for the development of its global MRO network to support the growing fleet of LEAP engines around the world. This massive investment will expand Safran’s MRO capabilities, allowing it to support the anticipated ramp-up in demand for LEAP aftersales services in the coming years. The LEAP is the latest engine developed by CFM International, a joint venture between Safran Aircraft Engines and GE Aerospace. Rolls-Royce/Snecma Olympus 593 turbojets🛫 The Concorde was powered by four Rolls-Royce/Snecma Olympus 593 turbojets. It was initially a joint project between Bristol Siddeley Engines Limited (BSEL) and Snecma, derived from the Bristol Siddeley Olympus 22R engine. Rolls-Royce Limited acquired BSEL in 1966 during development of the engine, making BSEL the Bristol Engine Division of Rolls-Royce. Until regular commercial flights by Concorde ceased, in October 2003, the Olympus turbojet was unique in aviation as the only turbojet with afterburner powering a commercial aircraft. Exciting news from Pratt & Whitney , MTU Aero Engines and #IAE which successfully tested the V2500 engine with 100% sustainable aviation fuel (#SAF) supplied by Neste.   Sustainable aviation fuel reduces greenhouse gas emissions (#GHG) by up to 80% in neat form, compared to using fossil jet fuel. SAF can currently be used blended up to 50% with conventional jet fuel. Once blended it is a drop-in solution, meaning it can be used in existing engines and fuel infrastructure without any modifications.    Tests like this on a V2500 engine which powers a significant fleet of aircraft, demonstrate that SAF can be used in existing engines even in 100% neat form. They also add to the growing body of research to developing future specifications for 100% SAF.   #Neste #NesteMYSAF #Aviation
