"Making sure the brave men and women of the U.S. Navy have the tools they need to perform their vital missions safely and effectively is the perfect example of what our team wakes up every morning focused on," says Jake Loosararian to Fox News Media.

“I grew up in a small city in Southern China called Jiujiang, which means ‘nine rivers.’ I love music and going to KTV. I learned a little guitar in high school and recently started learning piano. I now can play Fur Elise and am learning Cornfield Chase. Not so often, but sometimes, I play basketball (by myself because I am shy and hate losing :)) or pickleball." Xiukun Hu, Software Engineer at Gecko "During my second year pursuing a finance degree, I realized that finance wasn't for me. I began teaching myself advanced mathematics to follow my passion for math and technology, which led me to the University of Wyoming’s PhD program. There, I worked on projects involving optimization, high performance computing, big data analysis, and data assimilation. After four years in Laramie, I moved to the Bay Area, where I started working in autonomous driving at WeRide.ai, upgrading their lane-change motion system. One year later, I joined the Localization team at Aurora, helping build the offline mapping pipeline and improve the mapping and localization algorithms. My Myers-Briggs Type Indicator is ISTP. I am obsessed with coding, logic and abstraction. I love solving puzzles, and I also love designing things. Software engineering is my dream job. Fast forward five years, and I recently relocated to Pittsburgh in August to join the Autonomy team at Gecko, with plenty of excitement about Gecko and life in Pittsburgh. Being part of an early-stage company represents the unique opportunity in making meaningful and significant contributions to this noble task, which only heightens my enthusiasm. At Gecko, I work on localization and mapping algorithms, software frameworks, and developer tools to help improve developer experience, code maintainability, and reliability. For example, if some ultrasonic sensor reading indicates a super thin tank wall, we want to know where on the tank corresponds to this reading. 'Localization' is how to solve this problem. My job is mostly to help design solutions to solve these problems. Looking back, even though I started from a place pretty far away, each step I took was only getting me closer to software engineering."

"My journey through the rust has given me a vantage of pragmatism but also optimism about the future. Where robots and AI help us transform the built world. In the next 5 years, systems like Cantilever will be the key. Governments will require it. Insurance companies will reward it. And the idea of not knowing the health of our infrastructure will become just as foreign as not knowing our own health."
