Exciting News for New Yorkers and New Jersey Neighbors! Big news for pickleball enthusiasts in the Empire State – New York is gearing up to expand its pickleball courts! However, the catch is as big as the ambition. With a whopping 3,558 courts needed at a project cost of $124.5 million over the next 5-7 years, it's no small feat. That's almost 3 million square feet – equivalent to about 50 football fields. Comparatively, Texas is also joining the pickleball craze, requiring 2,527 courts at a project cost of $88.5 million. The Lone Star State may have more room to spare, but New York is stepping up despite its Northeastern space challenges. Property costs might be steep, but the love for pickleball knows no bounds. The notion of Red Bull, an energy drink synonymous with extreme sports, backing a breaking/hip-hop event, seemed far-fetched. Yet, it materialized in the most unforgettable manner, setting a new benchmark for breaking events worldwide. The event's success the following year raised the bar to new heights, surpassing any expectations within the breaking community. This experience was transformative for me, reshaping my career path entirely. Though I began my college journey as an engineering major, I quickly pivoted to marketing, driven by the events that unfolded. I launched and led an agency specializing in youth marketing with a focus on dance, which evolved into a 360 full-service marketing and advertising agency. Operating with over 20 full-time employees, I navigated both successes and challenges, learning valuable lessons about timing and the importance of valuing people along the way. Now, 23 years after that inaugural event in 2001, I find myself at the forefront of this project for Red Bull, the very project that altered the course of my life. I am tasked with the opportunity to reinvent and revive this legendary event in the most remarkable way possible. With the event looming on the horizon, my determination to maximize this project's success has never been stronger. I'm aiming to surpass the past, to recreate history. Great article about “Measurring Throw-in Success” by @StatsBomb … but I Think they come to the wrong conclusion! For me it’s about lack of vision in the football world… At Throw-ins all over the pitch you can deliver many more creative space creation solutions compared to corners and freekicks. A world class Long throw-in is more spectacular compared to a kick with the foot (that often is delivered with Low quality). If we start to use more positive words around Throw-ins maybe more people would start to see the magic… and beauty… of the two-handed throw. Throw-in improvement is one of the Low-hanging fruits to improve the quality and entertainment of the game we love.
