🌍We are happy to announce that You Song, one of our fellow NIVAists, will attend the upcoming #SETACTianjin Meeting! 🔬 📓 Phasing out animal experimentation in chemical hazard assessment has become an unstoppable trend. One of the remaining challenges is how data generated by alternative approaches to animal experimentation (e.g., in vitro tests and in silico predictions), can be translated to support regulatory decision-making. Adverse outcome pathway (AOP), a framework for better utilization of mechanistic knowledge and building causations of key toxicological events across multiple levels of biological organization, can be a potential solution. 🔊 In two weeks’ time, You Song from our section will give a presentation at SETAC Asia-Pacific 14the Biennial Meeting on how quantitative AOP (qAOP) modeling can enhance the regulatory relevance of zebrafish in vitro new approach methodology (NAM) data and help reduce/replace future fish growth tests. 👨🔬 👩🔬 This work is part of a larger research project, RiskAOP, on the development qAOPs to support risk assessment of mitochondrial toxicants. To learn more about our research on new approach methodology (NAM) and quantitative adverse outcome pathway (AOP), please visit the project website (https://lnkd.in/dXPTHZdA) and LinkedIn page (https://lnkd.in/dW8eaRiS).

This is one of the most comprehensive studies in RiskAOP combining in vitro NAM and qAOP to support hazard assessment of mitochondrial toxicants.

🚀 Advances in Authentication and Diagnostics! ☕️ There is no other work in the literature that uses indels in the authentication of 100% Arabica coffee, taking into account the presence of C. canephora. I feel very happy and proud when I search on Google and see these wonderful results, which are the product of one of the chapters of my doctoral thesis. We used an approach that I consider one of the most robust in the literature: the use of indels carefully selected with comparative genomics tools. I am increasingly enthusiastic because we have the possibility of making this approach even better with the refinement of the strategy used. Soon, I believe we will have even better results in coffee and I am sure we can apply the same approaches for the diagnosis of a multitude of contaminants and also in diagnostics in general. 📢 Exciting news! We are thrilled to be involved in the Darwin project, a groundbreaking and promising research project aiming to develop the next generation of #NGTs detection methods for new GMOs. Current GMO detection methods currently only work for the old generation of GMOs, so the analytical tools to detect genetic modifications to the DNA by NGTs so far are not applicable. To fill this knowledge gap, the Darwin project will develop new and improved detection methods to ensure and enhance traceability, labelling, and transparency for plant products obtained through NGTs, also by pioneering digital technologies such as AI and blockchain.👩💻 🌱 Ultimately, the outcomes of this project will enable consumers and food producers to have clear and transparent information to make informed choices! 🧐 Read the first press release of the Darwin project👇
“The results of the #DARWIN_NGT project will be a game changer as detection methods for NGTs is a milestone on the road to the sustainable use of genetic engineering” stated Odd-Gunnar Wikmark, our project coordinator from NORCE Norwegian Research Centre. Learn more about it in our first press release: https://lnkd.in/dYqFn9sV

❗ We are looking to undertake a project to develop an investment case for human genomic applications 🔬. As a 1st step, we are seeking providers to develop a report with: the context and background for supporting this work; selected use-cases for specific examples with defined features (including, test type | test position in the care pathway | country and population settings | comparator | time horizon, etc); and the quantitative and qualitative measures of values that will be evaluated. We are seeking providers able to undertake this work within the period of March-May 2024. ❗ If you are interested 💡💡 , please indicate your interest, availability and your experience in working in economic evaluations in the context of human genomics to 👉 genomics@who.int We look forward expressions of interests by February 23rd.
