"...You can ...of course you can't learn how somebody else does something and do it exactly the same way and hope to have a different outcome but you could learn how something can be done and then go back to First principles and ask yourself um giving the conditions today given my motivation given the instruments the tools given you know how things have changed how would I redo this how would I reinvent this whole thing how would I design a how would I build a car today would I build it incrementally from 1950s and 1900s how would I build a computer today how would I write software today does that make sense and so I go back to First principles all the time uh even in the company today and just reset ourselves you know because the world has changed ... and... the way we wrote software in the past was monolithic and it's designed for supercomputers but now it's disaggregated it's you know so on so forth and how we think about software today how we think about computers today how we think just always cause your company always cause yourself to go back to first principles and it creates lots and lots of opportunities..." I feel so inspired by Mr. Jensen's speech at Stanford these days. I listened to the video several times. I love all the principles the CEO calmly shared during his talk, especially from the designer perspective. https://lnkd.in/d8YgsGUX

Wow! NVIDIA absolutely crushed their fourth quarter! “Adjusted per-share earnings surged to $5.16 during the three months ended Jan. 28 from $0.88 a year earlier. That topped the consensus on Capital IQ of $4.64. Revenue more than tripled to $22.10 billion, higher than the Street's $20.55 billion call. Data-center revenue advanced 409% year-over-year to a record $18.40 billion, reflecting higher shipments of the Hopper graphics processing unit computing platform used for the training of large language models and generative AI applications, Chief Financial Officer Colette Kress said in comments posted on the company's website. Data-center sales also benefited from InfiniBand end-to-end solutions. "In the fourth quarter, large cloud providers represented more than half of our data center revenue, supporting both internal workloads and external customers," Kress said. "Strong demand was driven by enterprise software and consumer internet applications, and multiple industry verticals including automotive, financial services, and healthcare."” So…who’s the next NVIDIA?

He is 84, lives in Japan and never worked for Nvidia. He also saved the company. Meet the man Jensen Huang calls Irimajiri-san. Before it was one of the world's most valuable companies, Nvidia was a company on the verge of going out of business. And before it was a success, there were many, many failures. It survived with the help of Irimajiri-san. Every company needs a little luck and a lot of goodwill. Even a $2 trillion company. Especially a $2 trillion company. This $2 trillion company only exists today because Irimajiri-san once helped it escape a $5 million jam—and the CEO of Nvidia has never forgotten it. It taught him one of the most important, least appreciated lessons in business: "You can't discount the kindness of people when you're starting your company," Huang says. This week, I woke up very, very early one morning and spoke with Shoichiro Irimajiri, aka Irimajiri-san, Iri-san or just Iri. A brilliant engineer and charismatic executive, he was one of Japan's most admired business leaders, first at Honda and then at Sega. As a boy, his childhood hero was Chuck Yeager. He grew up and challenged the limits of speed closer to the ground, designing engines for Grand Prix motorcycles and Formula One cars that made him a revolutionary figure in his own right. He was even friends with Senna. Irimajiri-san was running Sega when he met a young, passionate, extremely confident entrepreneur in Silicon Valley who had just founded a chips startup from a Denny's booth. His name was Jensen Huang. What happened next? And how did Irimajiri-san play such an essential role in Nvidia's success? You can read about it in The Wall Street Journal. Here's a free link (no paywall!) to this week's column. Also, stick around till the end. Trust me.

As lots of Architects out there are struggling with setting up Stable diffusion. I took the privilage of having backend experience next to my architecture background and tried different ways of setting it up to be able then to recommend to my fellow Designers and architects how to best start :)) Let me know if you need any friendly help 😉 I eventually tried: - On my own laptop (old 4GB VRAM Nvidia card) --> A1111 - On Google Colab Pro (Cloud service) --> A1111 - Rhino Grasshopper (UI) + GoogleColab --> A1111 API (Previous posts) - On RunPod (Cloud service) --> ComfyUI In the image below is a quick conclusion. RunPod is my fav and I have adjusted the template there to fit my own needs (let me know if you want it) There could be a better way, but these options are enough IMO if you need a start before deciding to buy your own expensive machine just to test. P.S: If any Architect or designer needs help in setting it up let me know, I am willing to explore with you on the way just for fun and to help :)) #stablediffusion #aiarchitecture #generativeai #diffusion #parametricdesign #computationaldesign #tech
