Each year, 2 billion tons of municipal solid waste is produced globally. By 2050, waste production is expected to reach an annual 3.4 billion tons. Landfill waste, especially organic waste, increases methane emissions and contributes significantly to the climate crisis. To reduce divert waste from landfills and reduce methane emissions, #HCycle has developed a process to produce low-carbon hydrogen using an innovative waste processing system, diverting non-recyclable organic-rich waste from landfills and converting it into clean hydrogen as an alternative, emission-free energy source. BREAKING NEWS: D.C. pushes for zero waste by 2040! ♻️ In 2018, the city estimated the solid waste stream was about 1.14 million tons per year. Now, it’s expected to reach about 1.4 million tons by 2038. 📈 D.C. hopes to divert more than half of that waste, about 958,442 tons, per year with the goal of stopping 80% of solid waste from reaching landfills and incinerators. It includes 43 potential actions across seven overarching goals, including: 1) Phasing out and banning single-use plastics by 2030 2) Stopping the disposal of recyclable and compostable materials by 2032 3) Achieving a 15% reduction in per-capita waste generation 4) Building Material Recovery Facilities (MRF) and drop-off centers for hard-to-recycle items Learn more 👇 #washingtondc #climateaction

Despite this increase, over three-quarters of e-waste goes undocumented due to inadequate waste management.
