The local developer of full-service electric vehicle charging centers is opening a new location at 1008 E. 17th St. It will be the first of its kind with a ReCharge by Gelson’s mini-market, a car wash and a 24-hour lounge. “Our inspiration for the center was the old-style gas station where there was service, there was a small market and it was a local destination,” said Bill Reid, chief executive officer of Rove. “There is a lot of loyalty to that site and we were trying to develop a destination for EV drivers, their own space where we could develop a community...” Read more: https://lnkd.in/gN44fX7G

Brighter Bites, a national nonprofit that delivers fresh fruits and vegetables directly into families’ hands, partners with Zespri International™ Kiwifruit and Gelson's Markets to host a two-week, in-store promotion from August 14 to 27. During this time, Zespri and Gelson's will each donate $1 ($2 total) to the national nonprofit Brighter Bites for every one-pound package of Zespri SunGold Kiwi purchased. "We are thrilled to be partnering with Zespri Kiwifruit and Brighter Bites for the second year of this promotion," said Sean Saenz, vice president of fresh foods for Gelson’s. "This initiative aligns with our commitment to offering high-quality products and supporting the health and well-being of our local communities." The promotion aims to support Brighter Bites' mission of creating healthy communities through fresh food. By purchasing Zespri SunGold Kiwi at any Gelson's location, shoppers will enjoy the delicious and nutritious fruit and contribute to a cause that provides fresh produce and nutrition education to children and their families. "Zespri is proud to join Gelson's in supporting Brighter Bites," said Jeanne Wilson, head of marketing for Zespri North America. "Our SunGold Kiwifruit is not only a tasty and nutritious choice but also a means to positively impact children's health and nutrition." Gelson’s Markets Appoints New COO and CMO to Lead Strategic Growth Initiatives Gelson’s Markets, Southern California’s premier grocery chain, today announced the appointment of John Barker as Chief Operations Officer (COO) and Rick Williams as Chief Merchandising and Marketing Officer (CMO). This strategic realignment comes as part of the company’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its leadership team and drive future growth. “John and Rick bring decades of expertise and a deep understanding of the Southern California grocery market to Gelson’s," said Ryan Adams, Chief Executive Officer and President of Gelson’s Markets. “John is a leader who values people, builds teamwork, and has exceptionally high standards, while Rick is known for fostering collaboration, inspiring high performance, and leading teams through culture change. Their leadership will be pivotal as we continue to meet the evolving needs of our customers and navigate the dynamic retail environment. We welcome them to our team and look forward to their contributions.” John joins Gelson’s with 38 years of experience in operations, merchandising, marketing, and change management. His most recent role was Senior Director of Sales Support for Southern California Albertsons, where he led a high-performing team across multiple departments, including asset protection, construction, maintenance, food safety, and more. Committed to excellence and leadership development, John has participated in the Next Up Leadership Program, Leaderology, and the USC Food Industry Executive Program. Rick also brings 38 years of experience in the Southern California grocery retail industry to his new role. His career spans positions in store operations, merchandising, and marketing, most recently serving as Area Vice President of Operations for Southern California Albertsons. A Retail Management Certified Professional (RMCP) graduate, he has also completed the USC Food Industry Executive Program and the McKinsey Executive Leadership Program
