This is the result of my color theory research and SAR experience! Colormaps optimized for CSI interpretation. The fun part is done but I’ll write a paper about how to accomplish this soon…ish. Stay tuned for more examples!

What do you do if you work at the Institut für Windenergiesysteme (LUH) and you want to travel to a scientific wind energy conference such as Torque 2024? Right, you travel by train. So we do 😎. We is Felix Prigge, Basem Rajjoub and A.Wasay Khan. Looking forward to arrive in Florence tomorrow morning. However, there is room for improvements at railway companies to make the decision to travel by train easier, as literally NOTHING worked out as originally planned: - Local train from home to the office in the morning cancelled, took the next one 30 min later. Doable. - Train from Hanover to Munich cancelled, without a message, looked like train did not exist, even in the app. Bad communication. Took the next train more than 1 hour later. Not doable without planning tons of time for changing the train - which we fortunately did. However, less time for a fine Bavarian dinner… Not so nice, but still somewhat ok. - Nightjet from Munich to Florence: Couchette replaced by a seat wagon. Curious how comfortable and relaxing the journey is going to be. Will potentially report on that tomorrow. However, that is unreasonable. I may prepare with some Bavarian beer for the night. The lesson learned is - again, as last year: Plan enough time for changing trains and take the time of an international business travel by train as an adventure and an invaluable team building event, which it basically is. Anyways, please, Deutsche Bahn and ÖBB-Personenverkehr AG, improve your services. I fear this is not the way we can convince people to change from cars and planes to trains.
Let the journey begin! See you in sunny Firenze at the #Torque 2024 conference in two days. #sustainabletravel

#UAE🇦🇪The Colossal Head 🗿now on display at #LouvreAbuDhabi 🇫🇷🇦🇪 lobby earns the adjective in its name with stout aplomb. The ancient sculpture, on loan from the Museum of Anthropology in #Xalapa, #Mexico🇲🇽, is carved out of a large block of basalt and weighs almost six tonnes – or 5,840kg, to be exact. The Olmec civilization, one of the earliest in Mesoamerica, thrived between approximately 1500 BCE and 400 BCE along the Gulf Coast of modern-day Mexico, primarily in the states of Veracruz and Tabasco. Often referred to as the "mother culture" of Mesoamerica, the #Olmecs greatly influenced later civilizations like the #Maya and #Aztecs. Known for their monumental stone heads, which are believed to represent rulers, the Olmecs were skilled in art, architecture, and city planning. They developed early writing systems, calendars, and engaged in long-distance trade. Their ceremonial centers, such as San Lorenzo and La Venta, featured pyramids, plazas, and altars, demonstrating advanced societal structures. Religiously, the Olmecs practiced shamanism and worshipped a range of deities, with a particular emphasis on the #jaguar 🐆, which they believed had spiritual significance. Their contributions laid the foundation for many elements of later Mesoamerican cultures, including urban planning, religious practices, and artistic traditions. Despite their decline around 400 BCE, the legacy of the Olmec civilization persisted through the cultural developments of succeeding #Mesoamerican peoples. Goodmorning! With the sun shining brightly and the August newsletter highlighting the latest happenings in and around the castle, I found it the perfect moment to reflect on my first year Kasteel van Ordingen - a Relais & Châteaux hotel. As General Manager of this 5-star Relais & Châteaux hotel, I am reminded of the insightful conversations from Adam Grant's podcast "ReThinking" with Brené Brown Education and Research Group and Simon Sinek. Their discussions on leadership, vulnerability, and the power of rethinking have been very inspiring and relevant to my journey. Every day in this role presents a new challenge, but it’s one that I absolutely love. Over the past year, I’ve had the chance to put these concepts into practice. Brené Brown’s emphasis on vulnerability has highlighted the importance of leading with authenticity and empathy. It’s about showing up, being seen, and embracing the uncertainties that come with leadership. Simon Sinek’s insights on the importance of “why” have also been crucial. By continually revisiting and reinforcing our core mission and values, we’ve managed to stay focused on what truly matters: delivering exceptional experiences for our guests. Adam Grant’s notion of rethinking—challenging our assumptions and being open to new ideas—has served as a guiding principle. It has encouraged us to innovate and adapt, especially in these times of rapid change. As I look back on this year, I am so grateful for the support of our incredible team, the inspiring conversations with the owners of the castle, my family and friends, colleagues from Relais & Châteaux, and other leaders in the hospitality industry or beyond. Here’s to another year of growth, learning, and rethinking what’s possible! #Leadership #Rethinking #Vulnerability #Purpose #Hospitality #Trust #Empathy #Teamwork #KasteelVanOrdingen #OneYearAnniversary
