Strengthening Democracy with Hertie Foundation and the Business Council for Democracy

As I am on my way back to Berlin, I am still thinking about the great conversations I had at the World Economic Forum in Davos today. The roundtable on “Redefining Business Leadership in an Era of Democratic Fragility,” co-hosted by BMW Foundation Herbert Quandt and The Club of Rome sparked important discussions on the evolving role of business in strengthening democratic values amidst rising global challenges. Experts and leaders from diverse sectors, explored what role businesses can play in ensuring the delicate balance between profitability and political responsibility—ensuring that economic success goes hand in hand with fostering resilience, and the longevity of our democratic values and institutions. One key takeaway: Businesses are not just economic entities; they are societal actors with the power to shape the future. As we face increasing uncertainty, collaboration and ethical leadership are more important than ever. Grateful for the opportunity to engage in such an important dialogue in such a wonderful location Goals House. I am very much looking forward to continuing these conversations and turning insights into action. I do encourage anyone interested in these issues to check out the work we do at the Business Council for Democracy #BC4D. We have an incredible community of employers who are forging a path forward on responsible leadership. #WEF2025 #Davos #BC4D #BusinessForGood #Democracy #Resilience #DemokratieStärken #WirFürDemokratie
