Exciting news! 2025 Davos Neurodiversity Summit is only a few weeks away! Following the interest in the Neurodivergent and Neurodistinct Leaders forum last year in Davos, Switzerland, I am excited to announce that the 2025 Davos Neurodiversity Summit will take place during World Economic Forum, Davos-Klosters to amplify neurodistinct voices around the world. Our flagship hybrid dinner with panel discussions will showcase a global coalition of leaders on 22 January 2025 starting at 5:30pm CET at the historic Chesa Grischuna. It is critical that neurodivergent voices are included in the global conversation for this year's WEF theme, "Collaboration for the Intelligent Age," and we will be spotlighting neurodivergent and neurodistinct people around the globe during the week, which will also become part of a documentary film about the importance of people standing together, unabashedly, to be who we are. We welcome participation from all stakeholders, especially neurodistinct and neurodivergent people, executive leaders, delegates, and allies around the world. In-person tickets are limited so please register your interest as we only have a few slots left. We have designed sensory friendly experiences for those participating in person, such as hiking and conversation in small groups, and working on a white paper about our contributions as a global community to the key WEF themes. The disruption unleashed by the global transition into a new era challenges leaders to build a better future. The world faces five huge challenges that will dictate the future: Covid, the cognitive economy, cybersecurity, climate change and China . If we, as #leaders, are to build systems for a better world, we need to become #design #activists: people willing to tear down what’s not working, gather the pieces that do work, and rebuild global systems. In a world characterized by these five Cs, a new breed of leaders must emerge who can look forward and identify what business, government and communities might achieve from the volatile times we find ourselves in right now. We are living through one of the most unpredictable and complex decades in history. It is the result of our shift from one significant period to another. Globalization has transformed our world, lifting hundreds of millions of people out of poverty, largely eradicating many terrible diseases and creating a global Internet, while at the same time stretching the world’s resources to breaking point. This historic moment presents leaders with an incredibly rich opportunity to actively redesign these over-pressurized global systems and develop new strategies and leadership approaches for the future. This morning, while reading Jean Becker’s new book “Character Matters…and Other Life Lessons from George H. W. Bush,” the TV show Meet the Press was on in the background. Senator Tim Scott from SC was Kristen Welker’s guest. As usually witnessed on Sunday morning political talk shows, they both caustically continued to interrupt each other on a near nonstop basis. “Gotcha” media was on display alongside political “leadership” demonstrated by reliance on and sticking to talking points. During this discussion, I happen to be reading a section within Jean Becker’s book covering comments provided by Charles Herman, the first director of the Bush School of Government and Public Service. His reflections addressed the late President’s values that he consistently advocated for and that form the core values of the institution created in his name – passion for and commitment to a noble cause, and the necessity to work with others holding different political views encouraging them to engage in dialogue seeking compromise for the public good. Sadly, today the two national political parties have hunkered down within their polarized enclaves. Decency and civil dialogue have been overcome by extreme views and rhetoric calling on fears and grievances.   Winning at all costs has overtaken goals focused on the broader public good. Political ideology and special interest now trump moral courage to do the right thing. The consequence being the loss of trust in government, engrained deadlock within government, and public good assuming a backseat. Our collective history has witnessed polarization before. But as Jefferson and Madison feared, fractalization into “us vs. them” is a path democracy must not take. Within his January 20, 1989, inaugural address, President G. W. Bush communicated important wisdom concerning character and leadership - “I take as my guide the hope of a saint: in crucial things, unity; in important things, diversity; in all things, generosity.” Leadership matters. #leadership #character# #pointsoflight #servantleadership #authenticleadership #vote2024 #democracy
