Gemma has enjoyed partnering with FMI over the years to foster continuing education for our employees and help expand their knowledge and skillset as leaders in our industry. Shout out to our lead Estimator, Eric Tenney, for representing Gemma this past week in Raleigh, NC!
While the content of each Emerging Managers Institute (EMI) program remains consistent, every session is uniquely enriched by the diverse perspectives and stories shared by participants. This week's EMI in Raleigh was no exception. One participant captured the group's journey during closing remarks and noted there was an initial sense of heaviness on the first day, reflecting the weight of managing in today's construction industry; but that by the end of our time together, that heaviness transformed into a sense of lightness, fueled by the lessons learned and the supportive network built. It's a privilege to facilitate such transformative experiences for these emerging leaders. Thank you to Aristeo Construction, Atlantic-AE, B & I Contractors Inc., BCCI Construction, Blakemore Construction Corporation, Chris-Tel Construction, ClarkDietrich, ColonialWebb, Crossland Heavy Contractors, Inc., CSI Electrical Contractors, Inc., Gemma Power Systems, LLC, Govan Brown & Associates, Griffin Structures, KELLER, MBW Construction, LLC, Moore's Electrical & Mechanical, National Enclosure Company, LLC, The Raymond Group, Universal Civil Construction, Wilson Excavating, Inc., and Wolf Line Construction for trusting FMI with this important part of their leadership development journey.

Last week, members of our project team in Trumbull, Ohio collaborated with the Trumbull County LOSS organization to hold a charity golf tournament event raising awareness around suicide loss and prevention. This organization holds deep meaning in the hearts of each of our Gemma employees as members of the construction industry have a higher rate of suicide, being the “# 2 per capita after mining,” according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Through their dedication and efforts, our team was able to raise $151,296 – the highest charitable contribution in our company’s history! All proceeds earned were donated directly to the Trumbull County LOSS organization to help them sustain their efforts and spread awareness around the grief which affects those who have lost loved ones to suicide. If you would like to learn more or donate to the cause, please visit their website: https://lnkd.in/etCEc4Xn #SuicidePrevention #trumbull #tec #LOSS #charity #gemma

This is amazing progress by Peter Solberg and the rest of Gemma's Information Technology team! Allowing our employees on job sites to get connected & started as fast as possible is a crucial step in our mobilization phase, and will almost undoubtedly improve Gemma's overall project performance & efficiency in the long run. Thank you to Pete, Gen, Brett, Nate, Arnold, and Sakusal for your contributions and helping to make this possible! #IT #informationtechnology #network #cybersecurity #starlink
Jobsite mobilization has always been a challenge. With the immediate needs of network and the related IT services, its essential to get secure and reliable network infrastructure to the field ASAP. My team at Gemma Power Systems has perfected the initial jobsite mobilization rig. A rugged mount anchors a weather resistant enclosure housing Meraki's SDWAN appliance and 2 external access points. Connecting these appliances to the internet is the proven StarLink high performance satellite receiver. The SSID and CAT6 connectivity is secured using PortNOX cloud radius and certificate based authentication through InTune / Azure AD. So proud of my team in designing this from the ground up.

July Project Throwback On this month, 12 years ago, Gemma and Invenergy successfully achieved commercial operation at the Bishop Hill Wind Energy Center! This 200 MW wind farm is based in Henry County, IL, and consists of ninety-nine 1.6 MW XLE (100m towers) and thirty-four 1.5 MW XLE wind turbine generators, both provided by GE (General Electric). Of the ninety-nine 1.6 MW units, forty-nine of them are equipped with 100m rotors – making Bishop Hill the first project in the United States to utilize such technology. Gemma’s EPC scope of work included the installation of roads, foundations, collection system, substation build-out and the erection of the 133 wind turbine generators. Foundation work was completed in the fall of 2011, with turbine erection following in the spring of 2012. Thank you to everyone who made this effort possible! #tb #gemma #bishophill #wind #renewable
