Excellent conversation today, hosted by the Sustainable Development Solutions Network, UNESCO, and International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA), to launch a draft position paper on achieving Mission 4.7, creating a global knowledge commons, One of the conversation themes focused on how we can provide sustainable futures for all through knowledge and information, The Knowledge Equity Network shared some great examples of effective partnerships to help increase digital literacy, bridging gaps in technology and knowledge especially in underserved communities, Effective partnerships between government, education, business and civil society will help ensure society today and in the future not only has access to knowledge but also the skills and competencies to achieve the 2030 Agenda goals, and Paris Climate Agreement, https://lnkd.in/ehy5Y2kR #HLPF #Sdgs

With UNESCO taking the lead, education is indeed becoming greener and I’m glad to be a part of the process! Following the publication I earlier participated in demanding quality climate education by youth (link here: https://lnkd.in/eQwR6ax6 ) Two technical guidances were developed by UNESCO as a key output and contribution to the Greening Education Partnership: the Green curriculum guidance and the Green school quality standard. The first document establishes quality standards for green schools and the other advises how to integrate climate change and sustainability issues into the curriculum for countries and schools worldwide. At the launch of these technical guidances on the 5th of June, 2024, I was privileged to be invited as advisory, UNESCO YoU-CAN and founder, @africaupcyclecommunity to represent the voices of young people demanding the greening of education. What is more interesting is the fact that this guidances being released encapsulates young people from ages 5-18 years + ensuring they learn about climate change from very young ages and the need to take urgent action! Climate change cannot wait. #unesco #esd #climatechange #adaclimate

📌Our project PeakED aims to build capacities and co-develop – through a bottom-up participatory process that involves value chain actors, stakeholders, and policy-makers - relevant policy frameworks across Europe for the establishment of new or upgraded value chains that contribute to the resilience and sustainability of mountain areas to climate change. 🌳Similar to the SDG 15 we are aiming to improve and protect the mountains through the hard work of our partners from all around Europe and the South Mediterranean. 🌍 This project is Funded by the European Union. Views and opinions expressed are however those of the author(s) only and do not necessarily reflect those of the European Union or the European Education and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA). Education specialists explored the critical role of early climate education for learners at the 1th Asia Pacific Forum for Sustainable Development as UNESCO has reaffirmed its leadership in catalyzing cooperation for climate education. Hence, that message underscored the side event, ‘Building a Greener Future: Education as a Climate Solution’, at the 11th Asia-Pacific Forum for Sustainable Development, which was held at the United Nations Conference Centre on 21 February 2024, in Bangkok. The event was co-organized by the UNESCO Regional Office in Bangkok (UNESCO Bangkok), the Global Partnership for Education (GPE), Save the Children, Plan International, World Vision International, the United Nations Children's Fund, and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Secretariat. It features spirited discussion among a panel of regional government, youth, civic and philanthropic stakeholders who are exploring education’s critical role in offering climate solutions and equipping children and young to become active “ change agents “ catalyzing a more equitable and sustainable future in Asia-Pacific. #AsiaPacific #SustainableFuture #Pacific #climateimpact #climatesolutions This content is jointly prepared by ZWEEC Analytics Pte Ltd and ripple2wave. “Raise your hand if you received climate education at school. - Raise your hand if what you received was enough to understand and tackle climate change.” Exactly, that’s why non-formal education is so relevant to green education and communities. #WOSM is proudly part of UNESCO Greening Education Partnership, co-leading pillar 4 about Greening Communities. Our Youth Representative Lucas from Madagascar, was part of the high level opening remarks of youth setting the scene for a 2-day programme of discussions around environmental education in the first GEP gathering at #COP28 Green skills, green economies, green jobs and climate ready are just some of the concepts that need to permeate our narratives for sustainable transformation and resilient communites. #EarthTribe #Scouts4SDGs

💚Let’s raise a toast to friendship on July 30th, the International Day of Friendship, designated by United Nations General Assembly. As climate crises escalate, collaborative efforts become essential, and friendships can catalyze these partnerships. 🤝Established in response to the growing threats posed by climate change, Global Alliance of Universities on Climate (GAUC) unites 15 universities worldwide, fostering partnerships among students, faculty, and researchers. This collaboration not only enhances academic dialogue but also emphasizes shared responsibility and commitment to environmental stewardship. 🗺By nurturing friendships and partnerships, we can cultivate the solidarity necessary for meaningful change. Students, join us in the 2024 Climate X Program and be part of the global community acting against climate change. Together, through friendship and collaboration, we can make a difference.
