This year's report continues Mondelēz International's tradition of providing clear and measurable information on their ESG goals, policies, and initiatives. I'm pleased to share that we've published our 2023 Creating Shared Value & Sustainability Report alongside our annual results today. Leading the disclosure process and creation of the report, I had the unique opportunity to meet over one hundred passionate and engaged colleagues working hard to create a better future for people and the planet -- both in our global HQ and across the markets. This team of people have a lot to be proud of: 🌎 Reducing our net GHG emissions by >13.5% vs 2018 baseline, even as we grew 👩🌾 Working with farmers to adopt regenerative agricultural practices to build a more resilient food system 🥗 Setting an ambitious target to increase the sales of more nutritious products ♻ Using less virgin plastics, increasing use of alternative materials and redesigning packaging to be recyclable or reusable 👩🎓 Providing 2.1 million opportunities for young people through the Nestlé needs YOUth initiative. Dairy farmers’ sustainable practices are coming more into focus as consumers pay more attention to a product’s carbon footprint. Holly Jones of Agropur and Evan Grong of Valley Queen Cheese shared their insights on this topic in a panel discussion at the 2024 Dairy Strong conference last month. They spoke about changes in customer expectations and how that’s driving dairy supply chain stakeholders to work more closely together along the route from the farm to the fridge. I recently had a meaningful and memorable visit to Arkansas, where I met with Pure Strategies, Inc.'s client company Walmart in Bentonville and also attended The Sustainability Consortium's Summit 2024 at the incredible Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art. Highlights of lessons learned at the TSC Summit: — We are seeing a broad shift towards data-driven practices in agriculture, driven by the need for improved efficiency, reduced environmental impact, and evolving consumer preferences. — CDP believes that voluntary reporting will continue even in a mandatory reporting environment because companies want to stand out from their competition and to get ahead on mandatory issues like nature. — TSC has a few collaborative initiatives which alone are driving membership, including small format packaging solutions for plastic and glass around recyclability. — The TSC has just launched CommodityMap to provide insight on environmental and social sustainability issues associated with agricultural sourcing regions. https://lnkd.in/etmgvVcv For colleagues whom I saw on this trip, at Walmart and at the Summit, I am greatly appreciative of our time spent together and our shared experiences.
