Pie Medical Imaging has successfully completed patient enrollment for #FASTIII, the largest non-inferiority trial investigating angiography-based vessel fractional flow reserve (#CAAS #vFFR) in coronary revascularization. This trial, involving 2228 patients, compares vFFR-guided strategies to traditional FFR-guided strategies to determine the functional significance of coronary artery narrowing. Led by Dr. Joost Daemen from Thoraxcenter at Erasmus University Medical Center, this milestone marks a significant step towards better understanding and utilizing vFFR in clinical practice. The study’s primary endpoint focuses on all-cause death, myocardial infarction, or revascularization one year post-randomization, with results expected by the end of 2025. 🌟 **New Article Alert!** 🌟 I’m excited to share my latest research publication: "A Perspective on a Two-stent Approach in Bifurcation Cases."** This comprehensive review addresses the challenges and solutions in treating bifurcation lesions, which are notably complex and represent a significant portion of percutaneous coronary interventions. One of the key aspects we explore is the impact of side branch (SB) length on treatment strategies for bifurcation lesions. Our research reveals: -The critical role of SB length in determining the necessity and success of a two-stent approach. -Data from pivotal trials like DK CRUSH V, demonstrating improved outcomes with specific stenting techniques for SBs over 2.5 mm in diameter and longer than 16 mm. Our goal is to provide a detailed roadmap for interventional cardiologists to enhance procedural success and patient outcomes. Don't miss out on this essential read for anyone involved in coronary interventions! https://lnkd.in/d9yw9Nxk #Cardiology #DefinitionII #Medina #DKCrush #InterventionalCardiology #BifurcationLesions

The Angiology department at Klinikum rechts der Isar has successfully performed 100 FlowTriever interventions. FlowTriever is an innovative catheter system that enables fast and safe treatment of acute pulmonary embolism without the need for thrombolytics and thus without an increased risk of bleeding. The combination of aspiration and mechanical thrombectomy can lead to an immediate improvement of hemodynamics. Thanks to the system's filter component, the aspirated blood can be retransfused, allowing interventions to be performed with limited blood loss. The Klinikum rechts der Isar is proud to be among the leading medical centers in Europe offering this game-changing therapy for pulmonary embolism and looks forward to helping many more patients in the future. #FlowTriever #InariMedical #Thrombectomy #PulmonaryEmbolism #Angiology #PulmonaryEmbolism #FlowTriever #PE #MechanicalThrombectomy #Cardiology #PatientCare #InariMedical #Thrombectomy

✨ Major milestone! Inova Schar Heart and Vascular became the first in Northern Virginia to perform a coronary drug-coated procedure, offering a new treatment for in-stent restenosis (ISR)! ISR, where the coronary artery recloses due to a return of blockage at the stent site, is a complication that affects about 10% of patients undergoing coronary stent placement, reducing their quality of life. Traditionally, another stent is placed inside the existing one to reopen the blood vessel, but this increases the risk of ISR happening again. This new treatment procedure, led by our interventional cardiologists Behnam N. Tehrani, M.D., FSCAI, and Wayne Batchelor, MD, MHS, FSCAI, is a game-changer, delivering a targeted drug dose to dissolve ISR blockage without adding another stent. 🩺 Learn more: https://bit.ly/3zw8ut9 #restenosis #cardiology #heartandvascular #coronarystentplacement

💡Have you heard about the 2nd registry of the MLCTO Academy? HostiumCTO, a retrospective, multi-center registry for the evaluation of the clinical outcome following ostial RCA CTO procedures The prevalence of ostial CTO lesions of the RCA is the most prevalent and constitutes an increased challenge during PCI owing to the difficult engagement of the lesion as well as the use of the retrograde approach. The long-term clinical and angiographic outcomes of such lesions need to be refined in a large international registry. ✅Primary Endpoint: To assess the long-term (>6 months) clinical follow-up of patients who underwent a CTO procedure of an ostial RCA. ✅Secondary Endpoint: 1- Angiographic patency of any stent implanted during the procedure; Rate of complications (composite of cardiac death, myocardial infarction, major bleeding, and cardiac tamponade) of the index procedure. Discover more and participate! https://swll.to/2tFTupF #HostiumCTO #MLCTOAcademy #cardiology #research #CTO #RCA

Join us for Case based Management of Tricuspid and Mitral Valve Disease 2024, Dec. 6-7, JW Marriott Essex House, New York City. Mitral and tricuspid valve assessment, diagnosis and treatment are rapidly evolving disciplines highlighted by innovations in techniques, devices and imaging. These developments have altered the clinical practice framework for approaching valve disease quantification and treatments, resulting in some confusion regarding the best management strategies. Further, the volume and complexity of the published data make it difficult for busy practitioners to remain up to date on their knowledge and practice. This educational activity will provide key insights into how to achieve excellent outcomes through best practice management and the selection and execution of surgical and interventional techniques. #CME #cardiology #mitralvalve #cardiaccare #cardiothoracic https://lnkd.in/eQTkphWq

This international, multicentre, randomized controlled ULTRACOLOR Trial compared ultrasound-guided versus fluoroscopy-guided large-bore femoral access in percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) of complex coronary lesions. Key Results: 🔹 Ultrasound-guided access demonstrated a significantly higher first-pass puncture success rate (92% vs. 85%). 🔹 No significant reduction in clinically relevant bleeding or vascular complications between the two methods. 🔹 Comparable procedural duration and safety outcomes, supporting the feasibility and safety of ultrasound-guided access Read the full article: https://shorturl.at/a1sJ4 Tom Meijers Editorial by Sanjit Jolly and Marc-André d'Entremont: https://shorturl.at/YVegt #Cardiology #ClinicalResearch #PCI
