Fighting discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender identity reasons is at the center of the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, and Transphobia. I want to mark this occasion by underlining our commitment, as Generali, to supporting and strengthening a concrete, inclusive work environment where everyone can express themselves freely. Our voluntary Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) play a strategic role in this direction. The ERGs are present in many of the countries where we operate as a Global Group and act to favor a cultural transformation by overcoming gender bias in the work context. At a global level, #WePROUD and #TOGETHER are the two ERGs (with more than 5000 participants in their events) born to support the role of a #diverse workforce and promote #inclusive practices. 🚀 Championing LGBTQ2+ Inclusion in the Trades 🌈 At OAWA AB we strive for inclusion and advocacy for all. Here are 6 impactful ways we can support and uplift our LGBTQ2+ colleagues to create an inclusive and welcoming environment: Use Inclusive Language: Words matter. Make a conscious effort to use gender-neutral terms and respect preferred pronouns. Simple changes can make a big difference in making everyone feel welcome. Avoid Stereotypes: Challenge assumptions and stereotypes. Celebrate the individuality and diverse skills each person brings to the table. Listen and Learn: Be open to hearing the experiences of LGBTQ2+ individuals. Listening with empathy and seeking to understand their perspectives fosters a supportive community. Diversity Training: Participate in and advocate for diversity and inclusion training. These programs are essential in educating ourselves and others about the importance of an inclusive workplace. Safe Reporting Channels: Ensure there are confidential and safe ways for reporting discrimination or harassment. Everyone should feel secure in addressing concerns without fear of retaliation. Speak Up Against Discrimination: Be an ally. Stand up and speak out when you witness discrimination or harassment. Silence can be interpreted as acceptance, so let’s use our voices to advocate for equality.
