World DNA Day - How are you celebrating? Today, on April 25th, 2024, we join the global scientific community in celebrating World DNA Day. This day commemorates the discovery of the double helix structure of DNA in 1953, a milestone that revolutionised our understanding of the building blocks of life. Constructive Bio and the Chin lab have significantly advanced our understanding of DNA and its engineering. In 2019, we synthesised an entire recoded E. coli genome. In 2021, we reassigned sense codons, altering the genetic code used to translate DNA into proteins, reinforcing DNA’s role as life’s blueprint. Both achievements underscore the importance of DNA research and represent significant advances in genomics. Our work is part of a global effort. Rooted by grounding principles of the fundamental code of life, scientists worldwide are making great strides in understanding and manipulating DNA. These advancements have real-world applications in medicine, agriculture, and the environment. We are proud to contribute to this journey and are excited about the future possibilities. On this #WorldDNA Day, we celebrate not just the history and achievements of genomics, but also our role in shaping its future. Here’s to the language of life, and the work being done in labs all across the world. Happy DNA Day! #worlddnaday #DNA #syntheticbiology

Many years ago (circa 2009) I listened Dr. Eric Topol talking about the creative destruction of medicine and the "super convergence" of technologies to create precise and personalized medicine. Fast forward to 2024: life sciences converge with A.I. If you want to understand how new advances in A.I. propels life sciences research from science to engineering to revolutionize the field of digital biology you must-listen to this podcast by Eric Topol, MD with Aviv Regev at Genentech. The Revolution in Digital Biology. Aviv Regev is using a quote from Proust that says more or less that in a true voyage - discovery in this case - it is not the voyage that's important but the "eyes" you wear. It is important to see the universe with different eyes and different lenses from different points of view. That's when you start seeing things that nobody else is seeing. Let’s celebrate World DNA day! 🧬 Today we commemorate both the discovery of the double helix in 1953 by Watson, Crick, Franklin and Wilkins & the completion of the Human Genome Project in 2003 🙌🏽 These essential moments were just the start of amazing DNA breakthroughs we have seen over the last two decades, in medicine, forensics, agriculture and so many more fields. Here just three of my favourite new DNA methods recently published: → PASTE: Genome insertion of large sequences https://lnkd.in/dQW97Um8 → ARTEMIS: Analysis of repeat elements in disease https://lnkd.in/diXx_k53 → CODEC: Single duplex DNA sequencing https://lnkd.in/d4Tn984r But let’s not forget that with groundbreaking technologies, we also have new societal challenges and responsibilities. How will DNA technology impact science in the next decade? 🤔 What ethical, legal and social considerations should we prioritize? 🧐 Curious to hear your thoughts! #worldDNAday #DNA #DNAtechnology #DNAsequencing #personalizedmedicine #forensics
