Unlocking Team Potential Ever wondered why some team members shine in specific assignments while others falter? If you're an #SME without extensive #recruitment #resources, you might be plugging round holes with square pegs, leading to #performance gaps. Recently, I worked with an SME involved in project management, marketing communications, and distributor sales, facing challenges with a multinational client base. Problems included poor client management and misunderstandings despite high levels of training and coaching. To tackle this, we reviewed: • #Conflict Styles: How team members prioritized personal goals versus relationships. • #Learning Styles: How they think and do things. • #CrossCultural Competence: How they interact with diverse cultures. We were able to assess individual and organizational profiles in these areas using simple and user-friendly online survey tools. This practical approach made the process efficient and accessible, instilling confidence in the SME's ability to implement these insights. Key Findings: Cross-Cultural Communication Competency: Through the use of psychometric tools, the organization was able to gain a deeper understanding of its position in a five-level continuum, acknowledging cultural differences but not fully adapting. This newfound understanding helped to identify and address gaps that were contributing to client management challenges. Learning Styles: Departments showed varied preferences due to a heavy reliance on brainstorming and conceptualization but less on execution. This imbalance in learning styles could be a contributing factor to the challenges faced. Distributorship teams, however, managed to perform end-to-end functions effectively. Conflict Styles: The organization leaned towards avoiding and collaborating but exhibited average compromising skills, which in the context of emotional intelligence, refers to the ability to manage one's emotions and understand others, impacting relationships with multinational clients. This experience highlighted the potential benefits of #psychometric tools in identifying and developing team strengths. By using these tools during hiring and continually throughout the team's journey, SMEs can foster a more harmonious and productive work environment, ensuring the effectiveness of their training efforts. Have you faced similar challenges with team dynamics? Share your experiences or reach out if you need help assessing and understanding your team better using simple online tools. #TeamDynamics #SMEGrowth #Leadership #TrainingAndDevelopment #CrossCulturalCompetence #LearningStyles #ConflictResolution

Here’s a question to reflect on: 👉 When was the last time you focused on developing your team’s communication, adaptability, or emotional intelligence? Recent studies suggest that the importance of soft skills is growing exponentially: 91% of talent professionals say soft skills are very important to the future of work (LinkedIn’s 2019 Global Talent Trends report). 89% of recruiters say when a new hire doesn’t work out, it’s usually due to a lack of soft skills (Leadership IQ). These numbers tell a clear story: mastering technical skills alone is no longer enough. So, why should companies invest in soft skills? 1. Building Stronger Teams: Soft skills like communication, active listening, and teamwork foster collaboration. Employees who can work effectively across teams and manage conflicts drive projects forward faster and more efficiently. 2. Enhancing Leadership Capabilities: Leaders with emotional intelligence inspire trust and loyalty, creating a positive work culture. This kind of leadership can significantly reduce turnover rates, saving companies thousands in recruitment and training costs. 3. Driving Innovation: Critical thinking and adaptability—key soft skills—allow employees to approach challenges with creativity. In today’s fast-paced market, businesses that encourage innovation gain a competitive edge. 4. Improving Customer Relationships: Employees with strong interpersonal skills can build better client relationships, leading to greater customer satisfaction and retention—both of which directly impact the bottom line. How does this benefit your company’s growth? Employees who master soft skills are better equipped to adapt to change, lead with empathy, and drive results. In fact, a study from Harvard University found that 85% of job success comes from having well-developed soft skills, while only 15% comes from technical skills. Here’s another question to consider: 👉 Are you equipping your workforce with the skills that will truly future-proof your organization? The truth is, soft skills are no longer just "nice to have"—they are essential to fostering a resilient, adaptable, and innovative workforce. As companies prioritize upskilling, focusing on the development of both technical and soft skills will be key to thriving in the future of work. Are you ready to take the next step? #SoftSkills #WorkforceDevelopment #Upskilling #CorporateGrowth #Leadership #Innovation #FutureOfWork #EmotionalIntelligence #Teamwork #Communication

Incoming Finance Consulting Intern at EY | Co-President of Humraah at IU | Digital Marketing and Business Analytics | Student @ Kelley School of Business - Indiana University
As a form of building my professional network, I was tasked to share advice for one of my classes at the Kelley School of Business. However, I decided to spin the purpose of the assignment, and wanted to talk about how important it is to foster Creativity and to show techniques that I have seen unlock such a strength in the modern workplace. I hope you enjoy! 😄 In today’s fast-paced business landscape, creativity isn’t just a desirable trait; it’s a competitive advantage. Companies that foster a culture of creativity and innovation are better equipped to adapt to change, solve complex problems, and stay ahead of the curve. But how do we cultivate creativity within our teams and organizations? Here are some strategies to unlock creativity in the workplace: 1. Embrace Diversity and Inclusion: Studies consistently show that diverse teams are more innovative. By embracing diverse perspectives, backgrounds, and experiences, we open ourselves up to a broader range of ideas and approaches. 2. Encourage Risk-Taking: Creativity thrives in an environment where failure is seen as a stepping stone to success. Encourage your team to take calculated risks, experiment with new ideas, and learn from both successes and setbacks. 3. Provide Time for Reflection: In our fast-paced world, it’s easy to get caught up in the day-to-day grind. However, creativity often requires time for reflection and contemplation. Encourage your team to take breaks, go for walks, or engage in other activities that allow their minds to wander. 4. Foster a Culture of Collaboration: Creativity flourishes when ideas are freely shared and built upon. Encourage collaboration within your team by providing opportunities for brainstorming sessions, cross-departmental projects, and open feedback channels. 5. Create a Supportive Environment: As leaders, it’s our responsibility to create an environment where creativity can thrive. This means providing the resources, support, and encouragement that our teams need to unleash their full creative potential. 6. Lead by Example: Finally, remember that leadership plays a critical role in fostering creativity. Lead by example by demonstrating a willingness to think outside the box, embrace new ideas, and challenge the status quo. By implementing these strategies, we can unlock the full creative potential of our teams and organizations, driving innovation and success in today’s dynamic business landscape. Unlocking Talent: A Manager's Perspective With over a decade of experience managing people within the administrative profession, I've gleaned invaluable insights into how individuals perceive their value and navigate their careers. In particular women! Every person is unique and has a unique set of personal circumstances and behaviours. So how do we tap into their potential and foster growth? First and foremost, we must listen and observe: 👂 What do they convey in 1:1 meetings and group settings? 👂 How do they present themselves? 👂 Which skills do we frequently rely on them for? 👂 Do they seek out new challenges or stretch opportunities? 👂 Are they engaged in extracurricular activities, like diversity networks? 👂 What fuels their passion? People offer subtle cues (and in particular women), even if they're not the most vocal or perceived top performers in their current roles. They might be in the wrong role, introverted, or grappling with undisclosed neurodiversity. Getting to know our teams involves spending time getting curious and creating a safe space: 💚 Explore their interests inside and outside of work. 💚 Identify past experiences they've enjoyed. 💚 Seek feedback on their strengths and contributions. 💚 Understand their challenges and motivations. Reflective listening is key. Paraphrase what you've heard to ensure understanding and alignment. “What I am hearing you say is…..” 💬 How can we assist them in crafting attainable development plans? 💬 Do our companies utilize OKRs (Objectives and Key Results), and if so, how can we link their goals to their teams or the organization's objectives? 💬 How can we help them understand different career paths using transferable skills? MENTORING: Leveraging mentors can also aid individuals in navigating their career aspirations. How can we connect them with mentors to complement our efforts? ROLE STRUCTURE & BUILDING DIVERSE TEAMS: Moreover, are our roles designed to leverage our team's full potential? Can we adapt to accommodate diverse skill sets and strengths? Building diverse teams not only fosters inclusivity but also drives commercial success. Ultimately, we all seek fulfilment and impact in the workplace. As managers, our role is to empower our teams to achieve this, both individually and collectively. By recognising and nurturing talent, we create environments where everyone can thrive. #talentdevelopment #mentoring #administrativeprofessionals #diverseteams

In the 21st century, soft skills have become increasingly crucial as workplaces evolve and globalize. These skills—often overshadowed by technical expertise—are essential for career success and organizational growth. Effective communication tops the list. The ability to convey ideas clearly and listen actively enhances teamwork and resolves conflicts efficiently. In a diverse workplace, intercultural competence is also key, enabling professionals to collaborate across different backgrounds and perspectives. Adaptability is another vital soft skill. With rapid technological advancements and shifting market demands, being flexible and open to change ensures that professionals remain relevant and resilient. Problem-solving and critical thinking further complement adaptability, allowing individuals to tackle challenges creatively and make informed decisions. Emotional intelligence, including self-awareness and empathy, enhances interpersonal interactions and leadership capabilities. Understanding and managing one's emotions, as well as recognizing and responding to others' feelings, fosters a positive work environment and builds strong, supportive relationships. Lastly, time management and organizational skills are essential for maintaining productivity and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced world. Balancing multiple responsibilities and prioritizing tasks effectively ensures efficiency and reduces stress. As we advance further into the 21st century, developing these soft skills will be crucial for thriving in an ever-changing professional landscape. They enable individuals to adapt, collaborate, and lead effectively, driving both personal and organizational success. #snsinstitutions #snsDesignthinking #designthinking
