THIS. “...if the patterns identified here largely depict a “return to normal,” the “normal” that we have returned to is one of stark mortality disparities for groups such as Black individuals. This return to the high prepandemic level of mortality disparities reflects a failure to implement longer-term policy changes—such as universal paid sick leave, greater workplace rights to clean air, and stronger public health infrastructure—that might have further reduced these disparities once the acute pandemic ended.” #ReturnToNormal #Disparity https://lnkd.in/evGnWs5N

To make community health workers (#CHWs) count, we must #CountCHWs. CHWs have been a cornerstone of primary health delivery across the globe for more than a century. They deliver a range of promotive, preventative, diagnostic, and treatment services in areas as diverse as malaria treatment, to HIV management, to the surveillance of and response to disease threats, such as Ebola and COVID-19. The World Health Organization (WHO) recognizes CHWs as being integral to primary health care and important contributors to health for all. They also identify CHWs as being well-placed to address the projected shortfall of 18 million health workers by the year 2030. But unfortunately, most nations don’t know how many CHWs they have, how to contact the ones they do, or even where those workers are located. This lack of data hampers the ability of governments to engage in strategic health planning and workforce coordination. It also means CHWs often miss out on the crucial support and resources they need to do their job effectively. CHWs work, but to provide robust, high-quality care to patients, they must be salaried, skilled, supervised, and supplied. And they must be a recognised and valued part of a strong health system. So, the first step in making professional CHWs (proCHWs) the norm is to #CountCHWs. Learn more: https://lnkd.in/emfMRj2D

Very Informative and Interesting article about ripple effect of pandemic on public health as trust is the foundation of Healthcare.
HEALTH INFORMATION MANAGEMENT BACKGROUND........... Healthcare Consumer Looking for Fixes/Improvements
https://lnkd.in/ep4XVY9K #publichealth "The effects of the COVID-19 pandemic continue to reverberate, as shown in these new data from surveys of adults in the 50 states conducted over approximately 4 years. The erosion of trust in physicians and hospital systems that became ever apparent during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, and which persists even today has experts sounding an alarm to make restoring that trust a “public health imperative” because public health policies have become so politicized."
