For Shannon's most recent Research and Development project, she decided to work on her 3D skills to create this cool inflatable text! 🎈 "I decided to give 3D a shot using Blender and created this inflated balloon text as my first project, which was produced with a few modifiers, and physics simulation. Picking 3D was all about leveling up my skills and wanting to try something different compared to my usual 2D motion design. Understanding the UI was the biggest challenge (tip: don't skip the donut tutorial) and something I'm still getting the hang of! Once I get my head around the world of 3D, I'm super excited to see what else I can create." We're super proud of her and can't wait to see what she comes up with next ❤️ Check out more of our designers' personal projects at #FThatRnD on our instagram https://lnkd.in/enbJsc7g Let's make cool sh** together.

This is Blender (open source 3D modeler and renderer) on Apple Vision Pro - model a shape then virtually pick it up and manipulate it. The reflections on the 3D object are rendered in real-time from your actual environment. 🤯 #userexperience #uxdesign #visionpro #mixedreality #spatialcomputing

Elise Weiland Commented on a recent render of mine asking me to share my compositing process, so here's the bare bones version! I've been slowly learning Fusion to comp my renders, but my workflow in Ae is pretty identical. 99% of renders I include the Cryptomatte AOVs to make creating mattes easy in comp. Occasionally, I'll make a custom AOV for things like Logos that happen in materials. Then use those masks on CC nodes (adjustment layers in Ae usually with Lumetri or basic Levels and Hue/sat). The main focus is to boost the contrast, balance colors and values across the image, or add some warmth/coolness to areas to separate them more. My usual process involves getting things close in 3d, rendering out a test frame to see how well the composite will work, then go back to 3D and make some adjustments to things that aren't working in the comp before doing the final render. Hope that helps!

[ON MATERNITY LEAVE] Senior Product Manager @ Adobe | Generative AI, Internationalization, Accessibility, and Typography
It was the Friday before #NAB2024 and all through the house, not a creature was stirring... except the #AfterEffects team, who have not one, but two new 3D announcements in beta today! 😉 First up for you is depth mapping and 3D Channel effects! Utilize depth maps to simulate real-world camera settings for 3D renders, or to apply effects to a portion of a 3D scene based on its depth. You'll love the more realistic composites you'll be able to create. Learn more here: https://lnkd.in/gAvwfjWR We also have two new features in the Advanced 3D renderer: shadow catchers and shadow colors. Make your 3D model look like it's part of a 2D video or image by utilizing the new shadow catcher 3D layer type (which will "catch" the shadows cast by your 3D model but would be otherwise transparent). You can also customize a shadow's color and tint. More in the Adobe Beta Forum: https://lnkd.in/gmWAp9Nm All of these features are available today in AE beta 24.5 build 4. For those of you attending NAB this coming week, you can also swing by the Adobe booth to see these new features in action!

Overcoming Challenges in 3D Building Modelling: A Lesson in Persistence and Precision In the world of 3D modeling, especially when integrating CGI with live-action footage for VFX, achieving realism is both rewarding and time-consuming. One of the biggest hurdles I’ve faced recently in my work is UV mapping textures onto complex building models in Blender. Specifically, when adding new elements—such as additional floors, entrances, or architectural details that didn’t exist in the original design—it can be difficult to maintain accurate scale and proportion while aligning textures seamlessly. At first, this process felt like a constant battle of trial and error, and it was easy to get frustrated. The UV mapping would break, textures wouldn’t scale correctly, and the results didn’t match the level of realism I was aiming for. However, I realized that the solution was grounded in thorough research and attention to detail. By consistently referring to real-world architecture for proportion, harmony, and texture reference (thank you, Google and Pinterest!), I was able to develop a much more efficient approach. This research not only improved the quality of my work but also saved valuable time in the long run. This experience reminded me that even the most challenging aspects of 3D modelling can be overcome with patience, practice, and a focus on real-world accuracy. #3DModeling #Blender #UVMapping #VFX #BuildingDesign #MotionDesign #CreativeProcess #ProblemSolving

25 years later and he's still going strong. And so am I 😀 I stumbled upon this little guy on an old storage CD the other day. He was the third 3d model I ever created - all the way back in 1999. Created without any tutorials, all just pure experimentation with the software. It's modelled, animated and rendered all in architectural CAD software. And if you're sitting there thinking it looks a bit rough around the edges, remember that this was before V-Ray was even a thing. Pixar had just released 'A Bug's Life'. And believe it or not, this 320x216pixel 1 second animation took an entire night to render!! I had intended on adding arms but then my career in Visualisation took off and so armless he has remained since. It’s crucial to hold onto these early works. You might feel a bit shy about them at the time, but looking back after 25 years, you could find pride in those initial steps (or RUN) you took. Do you have a design project you might need assistance with? Reach out to me. No matter how small the project or how large your company - I'd love to become involved ❤ www.BradyLDN.com #cgi #3d #visualisation #visualization #interiordesign #liveevents #eventsindustry #events #vray #3dsmax #vray #vrayrender Brady LDN - Visualisation with more Passion
