🔬Did you know? During Stroke Awareness Month, we're highlighting groundbreaking research! The CHANCE-2 study found that treating minor stroke/transient ischemic attack patients carrying one or two CYP2C19 loss-of-function alleles with aspirin plus ticagrelor lowered their risk of a second stroke at 90 days more effectively than aspirin plus clopidogrel. (1) This emphasizes the critical role of early identification of a minor stroke or TIA patient's CYP2C19 genotype to optimize DAPT. (1) Let's spread awareness and advocate for genotype-guided DAPT to help prevent recurrent strokes! 🧬 #StrokeAwareness #Pharmacogenetics #StrokePrevention #OptimizedDAPT #PrecisionMedicine 1. Medical records were used to identify the prevalence of Mast Cell Activation Syndrome (MCAS) among those with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS) and Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS). The results of this study were truly surprising (infographic below). The reason for extensive diagnostic overlap among the three syndromes remains unclear to medical professionals. We at the Brain Inflammation Collaborative are on a mission to help researchers better understand this relationship so it becomes widely understood, promptly diagnosed, and treated. SHIP-CT study is a major milestone clearly demonstrating that imaging-based quantification can precisely assess treatment efficacy. The study was conducted in children with cystic fibrosis, using chest CT as the primary outcome measure. This external validation proves the specificity and high-precision sensitivity of LungQ™ Bronchus-Artery (BA) for an objective quantification of bronchial wall thickening and bronchial widening, as well as its importance for the assessment of a treatment effect. At #ASCO24, Bailey Nelson, MD, and team submit findings on the impact of whole pelvis radiation therapy (WPRT) on gut microbiota and chronic GI toxicity. The study highlights that patients with higher levels of Akkermansia muciniphila, a mucin-degrading bacteria, experience milder GI symptoms post-radiation. This discovery shows the potential for radioprotective gut bacteria therapies to enhance patients' quality of life. Read the full abstract: https://lnkd.in/gikMardV #CancerResearch #GutHealth
