[06/12/2024] A few months ago, I challenged myself to do some small projects to explore the use of remote sensing methods in various fields, one of which is the water sector. The following is one of my projects in which I used Sentinel 2 imagery to calculate the Normalized Difference Turbidity Index (NDTI). I used the Bangka Strait area as an example for this project. The NDTI index is computed using the red and green bands. The higher the NDTI value, shown in red in this project, the more turbid the water object and vice versa. The NDTI Index can be used for various studies that can be used for research or projects such as monitoring water quality, environmental management, hydrological studies, managing drinking water supplies and so on. As #Texas sees existing sources of water decline, complex issues relative to #groundwater and #surface #water interaction become more prevalent and of concern. It is a sensitive topic, but one that needs to be addressed. Here, improved #modeling and better #science can help.

Environmental monitoring in cooperation with Sommer Environmental monitoring makes it possible to observe the state of the earth's environment and recognise changes (e.g. due to climate change) at an early stage. With the installation of a technical infrastructure for in-situ observation of climatological (e.g. temperature and #precipitation) and hydrological (e.g. snow water equivalent or #snow depth) conditions in the high alpine environment of the Rofental (Tyrol, Austria), the Universität Innsbruck collects valuable data for the detection of climate change and its effects as well as for the further development, parameterisation and validation of physically based process models (e.g. hydrological models or energy balance snow models). A new measuring station ‘Proviantdepot Station’ was installed at 2730 m in the upper Rofental valley, which reliably collects hydroclimatological data. The station is equipped with the latest generation of measuring devices and is one of the highest stations of its kind. As it is located in a protected area, the top priority when planning and realising the installation was to ensure that it could be fully restored with the least possible impact on nature. Ulrich Strasser is involved in the realisation and servicing of the station. 📍Runoff potentiality map using SCS CN method. In my recent project, I utilised advanced geoinformatics techniques to accurately calculate surface runoff in the Garhbeta Block. By applying the SCS (Soil Conservation Service) model, I seamlessly integrated comprehensive land use data, a precisely digitized soil map, and detailed five-day historical rainfall records. This innovative approach enabled the generation of highly accurate and actionable runoff estimates, offering profound insights into the hydrological dynamics of the region.
