St George Mining Ltd (ASX:SGQ) will soon move to drilling at the Destiny Project in Western Australia, having leveraged a combination of magnetic and gravity surveys to identify the C1 #niobium and #RareEarthElements (REE) target as the highest priority for further exploration. SGQ believes the C1 target is a large circular magnetic feature of about 2.1 kilometres in diameter with a high gravity signature in the core of the feature, consistent with a dense body and likely to represent a late-stage carbonatite or mafic intrusion. This type of carbonatite intrusion is associated with rare earth elements (REE), niobium and fluorspar among others, while mafic intrusions are known to host high-grade nickel, copper and platinum group elements. St George Mining Ltd (ASX:SGQ) is enthusiastic about new prospects at its Destiny Project in Western Australia that may lead the way to niobium, rare earth elements (REE), nickel, copper and platinum group elements (PGE). The discovery comes as part of ongoing exploration efforts aimed at unlocking the project's full mineral potential. Gravity survey uncovers features The company's gravity survey program, covering six prominent magnetic features within the Destiny Project, has yielded promising results. Four of these magnetic features exhibit a high gravity signature, indicating the potential presence of intrusions such as carbonatites or mafic intrusions. These intrusive types are globally recognised for hosting a raft of critical minerals and base metals. There's a saying that we know more about the surface of Mars than we know about our deep ocean basins. Now, there is a new potential threat to the deep ocean basins, deep-sea mining. There is a push to rapidly open international waters to deep-sea mining for polymetalic nodules, that contain minerals now used in battery production. The attached paper by Carbon Brief summarizes the situation now, what we know, what we don't know, and highlights the implications of moving quickly without a full understanding. From the article: "we still do not have sufficient scientific evidence to really understand the risks of deep-sea mining". https://lnkd.in/ghVcsPgb

Core samples are important for any mining project. Our Study Director Trevor Thomas discusses the 54,000m of samples that make up the Magnetite Mines Core Library. Unlike surface exploration, core samples provide a direct look at the subsurface of our deposit to determine what minerals are present, their quality, and the overall quantity. By analysing the core samples, geologists and engineers can map the size and shape of a mineral deposit. This helps to plan the most efficient way to extract the minerals. Our extensive core sample library act as a critical reference for ongoing test work and represents one of our highest-value assets, giving a sense of the amount of work that has been completed at our Razorback Iron Ore Project. #MGT #MagnetiteMines #GreenIron #GreenSteel #SouthAustralia

🏔 Exploration Insights: " Dave Lowell's Rules of Exploration" "Dave Lowell" is regarded as the most successful #minefinder ever lived. He is known for leading the largest discoveries of the last century, including the copper giant #Escondida. Lowell's nine essential rules for exploration presented by Mining.com: 1. Ore Definition: Ore is a rock that can be mined at a profit. 2. Field Discovery: Mines are found in the field, not in the office. 3. Drilling Necessity: Drilling is essential for finding mines. 4. Cost-effective Exploration: Choose cost-effective methods; precision isn't always necessary. 5. Geological Mapping: High-tech tools are less effective than geological mapping. 6. Comprehensive Understanding: Knowledge of mining engineering, metallurgy, mine finance, and mineral economics is crucial. 7. Accepting Low Success Rates: Exploration has low success rates; persistence is key. 8. Risk Management: Exploration involves various risks, including political and financial. 9. Independence in Planning: Freedom in planning exploration projects is vital. The full article is available here for an in-depth understanding, including an interview with David Lowell at home on his Arizona ranch. https://lnkd.in/eVSP4Kf
