🚨 V is for Victoria! 🚨 Not what you might have expected for the latest entry in our Alford A to Z series, but the Australian state of Victoria holds a special place in the Alford Explosive Demolition team’s history! Here are two standout projects from our time Down Under: 🔋Angelsea Power Station | Victoria, Australia July-September 2018 After a partial demolition, the Angelsea site was out of bounds for personnel. Thanks to the success of our Didcot Power Station demolition, we were called in to explore the possibility of a remote demolition. Our recce showed that a remote/semi-remote approach was viable, so the Alford team took on the challenge of a remote demolition over 8,000 miles from home and delivered! This precision job had minimal impact on the Angelsea population, enabling the site remediation and development of a water-based nature reserve to move forward. 🔋 Hazelwood Power Station Chimneys | Victoria, Australia April 2020 Once one of the most polluting power stations globally, Hazelwood was decommissioned after 50 years. Our task? Use explosives to bring down all eight of its 134-metre chimneys. But there was a twist: the Covid-19 pandemic blocked our travel to the site. So, with support from our Australian team, we trained them remotely. The result? Eight chimneys down in one controlled explosion—unprecedented at this scale! With 1.6 million people watching live globally, it became a milestone in explosive demolition. #ExplosiveDemolition #Demolition #PowerStation

This 27.7 acre, 124 lot subdivision at Horningsea Park is powering ahead. With ABAX Contracting on site, we are currently at bulk earthworks stage, we will then be boxing out roads and completing road subgrade, followed by drainage.
