Since August 2016, NEMLog has been silently and efficiently collecting articles related to the energy transition here in Australia. To date, it has amassed a collection of over 1.65 million article titles and their links, with an additional 1,000 to 1,500 being added daily. It's a fabulous to watch the energy news in realtime and to have a searchable collection of energy concentrated links going back 7 years now. The "Offshore Wind" term, both locally and globally, was recently incorporated into the search criteria as our fledgling offshore wind industry and experiences grow here in Australia. Lots happening in Europe and the USA at the moment with mixed headlines on the booming or financial failure of the industry (see a few in the comment below). So it was nice to see the following news article and supporting Youtube video (August 2023) appear today. [1] "World's largest floating offshore wind farm - Hywind Tampen Floating Offshore Wind Farm off Norway - has officially opened: 'We will build bigger, reduce costs and build a new industry'" [2] It's fascinating to see this development in floating offshore wind farms. Although still modest in size, the design is benefiting from Norway's extensive oil and gas experience, aiming to refine processes and minimise risks. Notably, this will be the first wind farm to supply gas and oil rigs.
