Breaking News! GaffneyCline energy advisory team from Baker Hughes is excited to announce the successful completion of our Phase 1 Pre-Feasibility Study for CO2 Geological Storage, which was conducted in collaboration with uisa and @Renovar Sustentabilidade. After facing some geological challenges for the site’s CO2 storage, the team performed a rigorous analysis and re-evaluated the limitations, pinpointing new areas for further study. Currently, we’re acquiring data to assess reservoir quality, focusing on key factors such as porosity, permeability, and seal rock integrity. In the next phase, we’ll explore sites closer to the UISA facility, which could significantly reduce CO2 transportation costs. Our thorough analysis enabled us to give the best recommendation and solution, demonstrating our commitment to delivering exceptional expertise and guidance. Haddad et al (2022) study of underground hydrogen storage showed that "nearly 40% of injected H2 transformed either into H2S, formate and methane due to microbial activities and dissolved into the aqueous phase." However, after 90 days, an equilibrium was reached in the simulated subsurface aquifer reservoir and further depletion of H2 was negligible. Pointing to the possibility of an equilibrium being reached where hydrogen could remain in the free gas phase. Mineralogy and microbe activity will be important for a potential reservoir accumulation of geologic hydrogen. Dry/underfilled Shallow Structures Mystery: Incomplete Charge? Encountered an intriguing situation with a well on a large structure with a good quality reservoir! Initial Success: Drilled into a significant gas column, initially looking very promising. Rapid Decline: Unfortunately, production dropped sharply within two months, replaced by water. Theory in Focus: Our current hypothesis points towards incomplete hydrocarbon charging because migration stops when source supply stops ( Zhiyong He) Next Steps: While further investigation is ongoing, the initial data strongly suggests incomplete charging might be the culprit. Exploring the groundwater dynamics of Messara basin, located on the Island of Crete, we delve into the wet to dry season transition of 2023. Through meticulous data analysis from a dense network of 767 water occurrence points, including boreholes, springs, and wells, we gain invaluable insights into Messara's «groundwater landscape». Our depth to water level data analysis reveals a significant shift in hydraulic head, reflecting the region's hydrological dynamics. As we construct our visualization at a 1:250,000 scale, bold blues denote areas of sustained water supply, while nuanced red gradations signify notable aquifer depletions, some reaching sea levels. Fields tinged with shades of purple highlight regions where water level cones of depression have emerged at negative altitudes due to overpumping, emphasizing the urgency for responsible water resource management.
