As the President of the Geological Society of Nigeria, I'm often asked how to prepare for professionalism in our field. My response is simple: it's a journey that requires a combination of skills, mindset, and habits. To excel in geoscience, you must combine technical skills with a professional mindset. Set clear goals, develop a growth mindset, and improve your communication skills. Build a strong work ethic, develop problem-solving skills, and stay up-to-date with industry trends. As geoscientists, we represent not only ourselves but also our profession. Let's embody integrity, ethics, and a commitment to excellence. Remember, professionalism is a continuous journey, not a destination. Here are some tips to help you prepare: - Set clear goals and define what professionalism means to you - Develop a growth mindset and embrace lifelong learning - Improve communication skills and practice active listening - Build a strong work ethic and demonstrate reliability - Develop problem-solving skills and think critically - Enhance your skills and stay up-to-date with industry trends - Dress professionally and present yourself appropriately - Practice time management and prioritize tasks efficiently - Learn to work with others and respect diversity - Embody integrity and ethics in all you do Remember, professionalism is a continuous journey. Keep learning, growing, and striving for excellence. Let's elevate our industry and inspire the next generation of geoscientists! #GeologicalSocietyOfNigeria #ProfessionalismInGeoscience #ExcellenceInAction

President Tesseral Ai | Focused on delivering industry-best solutions to your critical problems especially with AI and machine learning.
I have been posting each week this course on LinkedIn. Many would say I am just trying to show I am smarter than others. I am doing this so people can be more successful in what they do. It took me years to learn some of this, I worked in the field as a field geophysicist and learned a lot. It was not easy, my claim to fame was I was the first person that was degreed that was not run off a crew. In the attached article I wrote: We need to learn to walk with Kings and still keep the common touch to successfully manage all the disciplines, and individuals within our industry. The biggest downfall for some when they went out to the crew was that they believed they were above everyone else. Fieldwork is used by companies to teach people how to manage people of different backgrounds; working internationally we have different cultures to deal with as well. We need to walk a fine line between being able to understand the issues involved in a country without becoming involved. I learned a lot about acquisition and processing and when I joined Vastar I learned a lot about rock mechanics, physics, imaging, and AVO. I recognized I was not smarter than anyone else and made mistakes but learned from them, I also put myself out there. I took jobs no one wanted. Being successful means you take risks. I also had the opportunity to meet incredible people along the way. There are many, who know who they are, taught me a lot. They were not PhDs but were people who took the time and showed me what they were doing. Part of life is being open-minded, the other part is learning to take off the sandals knock off the sand, and move forward. I love what Martin Luther King said: "If you can't fly then run, if you can't run then walk, if you can't walk then crawl, but whatever you do you have to keep moving forward.” Holding onto the past you will not move forward. Pushing people down will limit your growth. The universe is big, if you want to be part of it you need to put yourself out there. Someone will put you down, that is okay as long as you continue to move forward. I am hoping what I do will have a positive effect on just one person, and if it does I hope that person pays it forward, and then that person pays it forward and we go from 2 to 4 to 8 to 16....this is what makes the world a much better place and when we finally pass and we will, we all hope that people will raise that glass and be glad that we had met along the way. I am happy for all those I have worked with along the way and all they have taught me so I can pass it on to others. In today's world, companies are looking for people who can work together and uplift each other. Gone are the days of holding knowledge and parsing it out to prove your worth. There are no dumb questions just dumb answers.

I identify myself as an avid reader, a graduate of Geology (B. SC.) from Ekiti State University, for now I've been become indefatigable and a passionate scholar who is driven to learn new things, find out knowledge about (my) our origin and of the world through the help of science (time machines), evolution and technology to add value to myself(and everyone around me), bring innovation and make earth a better home for every individual. Albeit, I'm a social animal who is conscious, industrious, zealous enough to think, adopt morals, principles and ethics to achieve or fulfill the socioeconomic demand of my state and Country, knowing I can't live life alone, I'm responsible for what I do and what everyone else does, I sure know relationship, social ties and connections really matter, even if not with everyone but with the quality people or uncommon amongst the uncommon (you define what you mean by quality people?).
