An unknown number of UK military personnel's information has been accessed in a significant data breach. The hack targeted a payroll system used by the Ministry of Defense, which includes names and bank details of both current and some past armed forces members. The MoD is said to have worked on the issue intensively over the last 72 hours to determine how much data was exposed during the hack. It is understood that investigations have not shown any data to have been taken so far. An external contractor managed the system and no operational MoD data has been obtained. It is unknown who is behind the hack or what the data may be used for. 📣 Kaspersky Entities Added to U.S. Entity List for National Security Concerns On June 24, 2024, the Department of Commerce's Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) added three Kaspersky entities to the Entity List: AO Kaspersky Lab and OOO Kaspersky Group in Russia, and Kaspersky Labs Limited in the United Kingdom. 📝 These additions are based on their cooperation with Russian military and intelligence, posing risks to U.S. national security. A license is now required for all items subject to the Export Administration Regulations (EAR) when dealing with these entities, reviewed under a presumption of denial. ✅ This action is pursuant to §744.11 of the EAR.
