WesternGeco Requests License for Pará-Maranhão 3D Streamer The current acquisition polygon has an approximate area of 91,227 km², starts at a water depth of 200 meters, and covers deep-waters of the Pará-Maranhão basin, as well as portions of the Foz do Amazonas and Barreirinhas basins. According to the project's schedule, activities should commence in September 2025. The acquisition area is mostly unexplored, with only 3 wells drilled, some with hydrocarbon shows but noncommercial. Currently, the region has 7 exploration blocks: 2 fully owned by Enauta, 1 fully owned by Petrobras, and 4 operated by Petrobras, with partners bp and SINOPEC. Despite the lack of activity in the past decade, several blocks are under study in this region and could be included in future open acreage cycles. #WesternGeco #Enauta #well #drilling #Petrobras #Sinopec #bp #OpenAcreage #oilandgas #oil #anp #brazil #exploration #katalystdm #geopost

Potiguar's shallow waters hold very modest, commercially viable reserves of oil and gas. Still, Petrobras is set on making a noteworthy discovery in the basin's deepwater fields. The NOC will settle for drilling in Potiguar until CEO Jean Paul Prates can convince IBAMA President Rodrigo Agostinho that Petrobras can safely explore for hydrocarbon where it really wants: Block 59 of the Foz do Amazonas Basin. #Brazil #OilAndGas #Petrobras

bp to Drill Pre-Salt Deepwater Well in 𝐏𝐚𝐮 𝐁𝐫𝐚𝐬𝐢𝐥 bp is preparing to begin their drilling operations in Pau Brasil block, Santos Basin, at a water depth of approximately 2,300 meters. The operation shall be carried out by the drillship Valaris Renaissance, which is already on site. According to technical documents from 𝐈𝐁𝐀𝐌𝐀, the company plans to drill at least one exploratory well, with two additional wells also included in the license, depending on the results of the initial drilling. The last drilling conducted by bp as an operator took place in 2013, when well 3-BP-11-RJS was drilled in block C-M-473, which was later relinquished in 2017. This time, the main challenge faced by the British multinational should be the high CO2 content which already resulted in two relinquishments in the area (Peroba in 2021 and Três Marias earlier this year) and is currently delaying the development of Jupiter (operated by Petrobras). 𝐏𝐚𝐮 𝐁𝐫𝐚𝐬𝐢𝐥 block was acquired by bp in 2018 during the 5th Production Sharing Round, in a consortium with CNOOC International Petroleum (30%) and Ecopetrol (20%), for a R$500 million bonus and 63.79% of surplus oil. #bp #PauBrasil #SantosBasin #ibama #drilling #Petrobras #CNOOC #Ecopetrol #brazil #oilandgas #oil #geopost #katalystdm

Petrobras believes there is a chance of obtaining new licenses for drilling in Brazil’s geologically promising but environmentally fragile Equatorial Margin this year, a source close to the matter told BNamericas. “We’re carrying out political actions to clarify the situation and we hope that results will emerge,” the source said. The state-run oil firm’s 2024-28 business plan outlines US$3.1bn capex and the drilling of 16 wells in the Equatorial Margin. The region encompasses five sedimentary basins: Potiguar, Ceará, Pará-Maranhão, Barreirinhas and Foz do Amazonas. #energy #oil #drilling #equatorialmargin #petrobras #exploration https://lnkd.in/dz5uSK28 https://lnkd.in/djVTfrZF.

🎉 Congratulations to Wellesley Petroleum on #Gnomoria Appraisal Discovery! 🎉 We're thrilled to extend our congratulations to our client, Wellesley Petroleum, and their license partner Equinor on the recent discovery in the Gnomoria Appraisal (35/10-12 S) well in the North Sea, approximately 100 kilometres southwest of Florø. Our dedicated #wellsitegeologists played a crucial role in this campaign aboard the #COSLPromoter, bringing a wealth of experience and expertise gathered from analysing and delivering over 200 wells on the Norwegian Continental Shelf. Key Highlights 👇❗ ⚡Discovery size: preliminary estimates suggest the discovery holds between 0.8 to 4 million standard cubic metres of recoverable oil equivalent (Sm3 o.e.), which translates to 5 to 25 million barrels o.e. 📍Strategic location: Gnomoria is situated in an area with multiple discoveries, and the licensees are evaluating the potential for a tie-back to existing infrastructure. 📝 Well details: Drilled to a vertical depth of 3,346 metres below sea level (3,805 metres measured depth below sea level) and terminated in the Heather Formation in the Upper Jurassic. 🌊 Water depth: The site is 363 metres deep. ✅ Operations: The well has been permanently plugged and abandoned. While it was not formation tested, extensive data acquisition and sampling were conducted. This discovery represents a significant milestone, and we are proud to have been part of this successful campaign. https://lnkd.in/dsrTDAnk
