Dear Friends and Colleagues, I'm glad to say that the submission deadline of our special issue has been extended for two months, until the end of January 2024. There is still time to contribute! We cordially invite you to submit your work to our Special Issue at MDPI Machines on, «Surgical Robotics: From the Laboratory to the Operating Room», Over the past twenty years, surgical robots have seen an increasing acceptance and utilization in the operating room, revolutionizing interventions by enhancing surgical dexterity and safety, while reducing procedure and patient recovery times. Current commercial platforms cover a wide range of surgical specialties, from urologic, to colorectal, to gynecologic surgery, to name a few. In the last years, many more companies have entered the market, offering advanced robotic surgical solutions, intensifying the competition, while at the same time, research in the field has been growing exponentially. The main goal of this Special Issue is to provide a current snapshot of the state of the art, both for the commercial platforms deployed in the Operating Room, as well as the research and innovation output from academia. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to: ▪️Technical and functional description of commercial platforms; ▪️Clinical applications of commercial and emerging platforms; ▪️Autonomy is surgical robots; ▪️Enhanced human–robot interaction; ▪️Surgical data science; ▪️Remote surgery/telesurgery; ▪️Novel intra/perioperative visualisation and imaging in robotic surgery; ▪️Novel designs; ▪️Training platforms and tools; ▪️Cognitive architectures and control; ▪️Haptics in robotic surgery.
