New Years Resolutions are a funny animal, aren't they? In the long-winded video below, I sorta facetiously ask if anyone has already fallen off the boat on their resolutions on day <checks watch> three. In reality, a whopping 23% of all new year's resolutions don't even make it to the end of the first week. Why? I have theories on that. It's a bit related to the watering-down of the use of the term resolution. In order to be resolute in the resolve of our resolutions, there's a component missing. The plan of action. So, midway through this first week of the year, if you're already feeling like something you resolved to kick into high gear has started to kick back and falter, there may still be a chance to get after it with a bit more chance of accomplishment. I didn’t have and I won’t make any New Year’s resolutions as I had another, much more important life event that forced me to have to establish goals with their respective plans. So, my resolutions are to stay on the path that I am, and I did have one! Hmmm! 🤔 I just noticed and I’m lying to myself! I used the new year to start a healthy sleeping pattern. I’m an owl,🦉 and that’s killing me. So, I’m trying to follow a sleeping schedule. So far, so good. 😊 Happy 2024!
I’m not a fan (anymore) of setting resolutions, but I think is always good to set a direction. Sometimes to go on a new direction, or even to stay on track, a plan is required. Happy new year buddy! Edit: On a second thought, I think what I really mean is setting priorities. If you define where your efforts and time should be, you’re likely to progress on what is more meaningful, while not getting sad over what you didn’t manage to do so well. Something like that 😂

Thanks George! I don’t make specific New Year’s resolutions anymore. I just strive to clean and clear out clutter on all levels in the month of January and to be on purpose about taking steps with and outside of my normal flow, towards progress in multiple areas. I have to write EVERYTHING down that comes to mind to be successful each day. 3-5 things at a time usually work for me. I don’t go too far ahead than a week maybe 2. I like to check off boxes as well! Just seeing what I have finished drives me to complete the next task! Thanks for your share on this topic. Enjoy your day today. 🙂

Great words as always George! Personally, I never do New Years resolutions. They just feel icky to me. If there's something that needs done in my life to make my health/career/relationship/whatever better, I do it. If I do anything for a new year, it's more of a theme or story arc.

Announcing to start or persue something in a humankind ceremonial testament of timely accountability and we all know not to jump into a boat or you're gonna tip it over, right? Name it to claim it, break it down, experiment, make it achievable and fun, laugh at your mistakes and then get back into the boat, include your people, and look back on your progress without criticism.
