Very dynamic discussions today at #BIT24 hosted by Khaleej Times in Doha regarding new wave of innovation in Banking I was honored to deliver the introductory keynote adress with excerpts from McKinsey & Company latest Fintech reports, “Fintech: A new Paradigm for growth”, where we expect Fintech to take even more importance globally and resume its funding growth post a contraction in 2022 and 2023. Fintechs should refocus more on the cost side of the equation versus growth as investors are keeping an increasing scrutiny on unit economics. We are bullish on the MENAP region given increased deployment of sizeable capital pools locally, establishment of new regulatory framework/entities and successful example of at-scale BNPL/Payment unicorns. It was also insightful to connect with fellow participants and pannelists in the Fintech ecosystem and exchange view around future growth in MENA and in Qatar including potential implications and use cases of AI on Fintechs.
