What is dementia’s impact?! 🧠 The numbers are STAGGERING these days!!! They’re so big, that if we really want to see change, it’s going to take all of us working together to combat this global killer 🤝 🌎 We at CTF are PASSIONATE about funding the necessary research to discover breakthrough drugs and novel treatments that will eliminate dementia 🔬 But we need more people that share this same passion to stand with us in support to make seeing a world free of dementia, our reality. This reality is a necessity for our kids, grandkids, and all future generations to come! #endalz #greatcause #SanDiego During a job search, I have heard many experts say to dedicate your extra time to learn new skills, take some time for fitness, enjoy your hobbies and also spend some time giving back to a cause bigger that yourself.   Of all of these recommendations, I’ve been most happy to spend more time supporting an important cause and contribute to the effort to end Alzheimer’s. Just taking a few moments to reflex and remember how lucky we are. thanks Jess Mackenzie Please share, like, comment and generally support f this resonates or if you can, support doesn't always equate to money... I am Jess from Alzheimer’s Society, and my role title is the Community Fundraiser for Cheshire. In a nutshell this means that I am a charity best friend for anyone fundraising for Alzheimer’s Society, be it a corporate, a group or association or an individual. Now… as many of you may know Alzheimer’s Society is a massive charity, however my goal is to help others understand that we are more local than you would think, and this starts by making people aware of myself and that I live in Cheshire working on the ground to support my supporters in anyway that I can.    Overview on Alzheimer’s Society: At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives, and we do this by giving help to those living with dementia today and providing hope for the future. ONLY 5 WEEKS TO GO! 😬 On the 3rd August I'm taking part in Alzheimer's Society 's #Trek26Suffolk and walking 26miles to raise money to help support people affected by Dementia. Dementia is the biggest health and social challenge of our time. There are currently estimated to be 900,000 people in the UK with dementia. Many are undiagnosed and facing the realities of their condition alone. This number will rise to 1.6 million people by 2040. And yet, despite this, latest figures show the UK government invests only around £85m in dementia research per year, which reflects about 0.25 per cent of the cost of dementia to the UK. In comparison, they invest about £270m per year or 1.5 per cent of the cost of cancer into cancer research. On a daily basis, I see the devastation this disease causes not only to the person living with dementia but to their families and friends. Dementia deserves more. It deserves more awareness, it deserves more funding and it deserves to be a priority. So I'm here to ask for your help. I'm here to ask you to donate whatever you can to this amazing cause. 💙 £50 could fund 8 phone calls to a Dementia Advisor providing support to carers who are exhausted and isolated. 💙 £200 could fund a Community Advisor for a day enabling them to visit someone face-to-face and provide invaluable support. https://lnkd.in/eYx43_ay FYI I've only managed 10miles so far and that was painful so this is going to be a massive challenge! #dementia #dementiaawareness #dementiasupport #fundraisingevents #charityevents #justgiving #pleasesupport #challengeaccepted #alzheimerssociety #alzheimersawareness #walking #takingaction
