Today signifies the world's first Lidar Day celebrating lidar and its expanding applications worldwide, the day was established to coincide with Geo Week, to raise awareness about the value of lidar. The founding members of Lidar Day include experts such as American Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ASPRS), U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), National Society of Professional Surveyors (NSPS), Woolpert, Teledyne Optech and Hexagon Safety, Infrastructure & Geospatial.
Lidar, or light detection and ranging, is a remote sensing technology that uses the rebound time of pulses of light to determine the distance to an object’s surface and hence its shape. It has many uses including coastal zone management and resilience, flood-risk management, water supply, and quality management, infrastructure and construction management, and transportation planning.
Reveal uses Lidar to build above-ground models of work sites for georeferencing of key survey points as well as scanning underground pipes to produce detailed 3D models to confirm the position of assets. Using GeoSLAM (A FARO Solution) our team can scan up to 60m of inner pipe to supply clients with quality, accurate asset data.
