More great work from the team. The Altitude Team has just released the v1.0 of Harsh Events Beta in the Altitude Roads API. 🥼 Waiting for a collision to occur to understand road safety isn't good enough. Insights from Harsh Events could help identify road segments which exhibit the most risk for road users. We think that this could lead to better preventative measures before a collision or fatality occurs. 🙏 #visionzero #safety #saferoads #traffic #transit #road #transportation

Happy New Year to all !!!! 🤗 It all begins when the weather is still warm and balmy in Texas. Well before the winter season, TxDOT staff across the state begin to prepare for snow and ice. TxDOT stockpiles sand, chemical de-icers and liquid brine well before winter arrives. Driving in inclement weather is strongly discouraged. If motorists must travel, TxDOT reminds drivers of the following safety tips: -Please give TxDOT vehicles space to work. Don't follow too closely, don't try and pass working roadway equipment, and remember- don't crowd the plow. -Stay aware of weather conditions, as they can change rapidly. -Give yourself additional time to reach your destination. -Be considerate and share the road with others. -Drive to conditions, wear your seat belt at all times, and don’t use cruise control. -Reduce your speed and increase the traveling distance between your vehicle and others on the road. -Drive with your headlights on day and night to increase visibility. -Carry an emergency kit (with food, water, blankets, etc.) in your vehicle. -Keep your vehicle's gas tank full in case of unexpected delays. -Give extra space to vehicles that may be parked on the side of the road. If you find yourself in a skid, stay calm and keep both hands on the wheel. Take your foot off the gas, look where you want to go and then steer in that direction. Have a safe Winter on the roads.!! #transportation #txdot #texas #texaslife #dallas #austintexas #houston #winter #snow #traffic #trafficmanagement

With mandatory intelligent speed assistance (ISA) limiters, road safety is taking a leap forward. But not everyone is on board. While this technology has been proven to curb speeding and reduce collisions, there are fears that drivers will see it as 'invasive' and try to override it. Fleets are being urged to tackle this issue head-on. Find out more in this article: https://lnkd.in/eXhFw4Vs? #FleetNews #SpeedLimiters #SpeedAssistanceTechnology

🚦 Unveiling My Latest Project on Road Accident Analysis 🚦 I'm thrilled to share my latest project, where I developed a comprehensive dashboard to analyze road casualties caused by various vehicles, including bikes, agricultural vehicles, trucks, buses, and more. 📊 The dashboard categorizes data based on monthly trends, road types, and the impact of different road surfaces—whether wet, snowy, or rainy. 🌧️❄️ I also designed donut charts to illustrate region-wise categories for both urban and rural areas. 🏙️🌾 To streamline the analysis, I’ve compiled all the KPIs into a single Data Analytics Sheet. 📈 Navigating the dashboard is intuitive—click on images to access specific sheets, send emails, or even view the dataset source. 🖱️📧 Conclusion: This dashboard is more than just a tool for analyzing past data; it's a forward-looking instrument that can help predict and mitigate future road accident risks. By breaking down casualties by vehicle type, road condition, and location, decision-makers can identify high-risk areas and times, allowing for targeted interventions. For instance, if the data shows a spike in accidents involving trucks on rainy rural roads, authorities can prioritize infrastructure improvements, enhance signage, or enforce stricter regulations during adverse weather conditions. Moreover, the ability to visualize data trends across different regions and surfaces will empower urban planners and policymakers to allocate resources more effectively, ensuring that preventive measures are not just reactive but proactive. This, in turn, could lead to a significant reduction in road accidents, saving lives and minimizing economic losses. The interactive features of the dashboard also make it an accessible tool for continuous monitoring and quick decision-making, ensuring that responses to emerging trends are swift and informed. In summary, this dashboard serves as a crucial asset for enhancing road safety strategies and shaping future transportation policies, ultimately contributing to safer roads for everyone.🚘 #DataAnalytics #Dashboard #RoadSafety #PowerBI #DataVisualization #AccidentAnalysis

I have driven 4,000+ miles over the past ten days, and I'm convinced that it's impossible to get to a place in the time estimated by navigation systems without driving constantly over the speed limit. I guess that modern navigation systems collect data in real time from drivers, who, on average, drive about ten mph above the limit. I also suspect drivers may feel pressured to speed to match the navigator's estimated arrival time, contributing to the problem. I'd love an option to use the speed limits to calculate the shortest possible travel time. The estimated time displayed by the navigator should be adjusted based on traffic conditions but should never be lower than the shortest “legal” travel time.
