Back to the future with IO-Link! A lot has happened since Balluff EMEA Balluff Americas co-founded the IO-Link consortium in 2006: 21 founding members have now grown into 450 companies that are continuously developing and improving the standard. Today, #IO_Link is an indispensable part of industrial automation. What makes IO-Link so special? It enables seamless communication down to the smallest field device and is backwards compatible, which makes it possible to connect older sensors with modern devices without having to replace cables. And what may the future hold? New profiles for actuators, lighting, and identification are already in the works, and the internationalization of the standard is picking up speed. We see #IO_Link as a key technology for flexible and smart manufacturing concepts.
