Nothing wrong with doing it this way! Nothing at all! New Year doesn't have to be 'new me' and 'new resolutions'. Of course, if it's true for you to do those things, then go for it. But don't do it just because you feel you have to adhere societies concepts and expectations. 🦆 Waddle along slowly. Take your time. Be exactly who you were last year (which was only a few days ago anyway 🤣). And if there is change afoot, let it unfold naturally when the time is right for you. 💛 #newyear #chill #mentalhealth #wellbeing #personaldevelopment
Don’t mind us, just winging our way through January. If you’re the same, take it slowly 🦆 Thanks so much to Lara Hacker for letting us share her beautiful illustration ✨

Sometimes, the best thing you can do is slow down, and the start of a new year is always a great time to take a step back and make some time for yourself. After being ill for the first couple of weeks of January, I have been almost forced to take a breather from the fast pace of life, but it's been a great reminder of the importance of self-care. Taking care of yourself helps you show up better for others. 💚 #studentnurse #mentalhealthawareness #self-care

It's so important to listen and understand when someone is communicating. I learnt some theories of communication in my time in retail. Psychologist Mehrabian (1971) discussed how 55% of communication is conveyed through body language. Often it can be the things that are left unsaid or demonstrated in an alternative manner which are the things people are trying to express. Just a reminder to check in and if you notice something different, try and approach in a respectful way.
Sometimes when friends and family tell you they’re doing alright, we might have to read between the lines to find out how they’re really feeling. As we come to the end of #GriefAwarenessWeek, look out for those who have lost loved ones, including yourself Thanks so much to @glimpseofarainbow (Insta) for their fantastic illustration.

Not only does this apply to grief, but also to ‘not coping’. The masking that we exhibit day in, day out . . . The very English ‘I’m fine’, is a thing of fiction. Just like ‘normal’ doesn’t exist. Neither does “I’m fine”, yet we all say it don’t we? How do you envisage this language will shift in the coming years ahead (if at all), and what will enable that? #mentalhealth #mhfa #mentalhealthmatters #imok #imnotok #hr #leadershipdevelopment #personaldevelopment #wellnessatwork

A great visual to show how important it is to 'read between the lines' and to ask more than once.

Reading between the lines takes a bit of skill rather than just jumping to a conclusion. From experience, when we struggle, we become the best actors in the world. We can switch to our pseudo-self at the click of a finger. The 'lines' will sometimes merge and almost be 'normal' to others. For those on the outside of our mental-wall, watch, listen and pick up on the little things. Ask open questions but don't interrupt or cut-off mid-response. Listening and being there becomes absolute golden. When that 'wall' starts to crack and we realise that the first step to a positive mental outlook must come from ourselves, that person, you, will be an absolute rock. Reading between the lines will become easier as the barrier comes down. We're entering a period that many find difficult. Christmas doesn't bring cheer to everyone. I for one will hold my hand-up to that. Don't bottle up, talk. Don't talk at the person, listen and be there.

How are you really? 🤔 Asking the question a second time may get you a little nearer the truth.... 🤞 Another option could be a very gently supported conversation with Emotional Culture Deck riders&elephants . As a qualified counsellor and coach there are many ways I can support you & your teams. Most importantly, start reading between the lines now, with those in your world, at home or work 🙏🪷

Mind have this powerful reminder to read between the lines for #GriefAwarenessWeek but as we head into Christmas, a quarter of the population finds Christmas more challenging than the rest of the year. In fact, they say it has a fairly (19%) or very (7%) negative impact on their mental health. Feeling low around Christmas is especially common among people who are unemployed (38%), divorced (35%) or widowed (31%). If you are having a conversation with friends and family this Christmas, I cannot encourage people enough to #asktwice when checking in, you will always receive a deeper answer the second time around. This is such a simple, yet effective technique to break the "i'm fine" cycle. #asktwice #mentalhealthawareness #bethedifference #mentalhealthsupport #mindfulness

Title: "Waves of Passion" by Rick McCawley Over 65 years, I've pursued a life rich in music and visual artistry, striving to capture the beauty in fleeting moments that others might overlook. This music video, which I have affectionately named "Waves of Passion" embodies over a half-century of my artistic journey—blending life's passions with state-of-the-art technology. Tools Used in Production: My Original Photography: Leveraging my 25-year "Water Woman" project, I utilized Mid Journey's /describe command to evolve my photography into new, dynamic forms. Mid Journey: A powerhouse of creativity, generating over 120,000 images in the last two years, this is a curated tiny sample of thousands of hours of production, that shaped the visual narrative of this project. Suno.ai: Infused with my own words and reflecting my deepest emotions, this tool helped orchestrate the music that threads through the visuals. Photoshop: Essential for retouching and expanding the imagery, retouching each element ensuring every frame was perfect. KREA: Transformed still images into flowing video, enhancing quality and depth to bring stillness to life. Dream Machine by Luma: The newest addition to my toolkit, used to create captivating 30-second clips, each upscaled for maximum impact. I designate this work: "Signature Worthy" as a testament to a life spent in pursuit of artistic excellence. Each frame is steeped in my humanity and dedication, meriting my signature not just as a mark of creation, but as a seal of my lifelong passion. I invite you to experience this journey with me, Rick McCawley https://lnkd.in/e9jPCSpQ
