🚶♂️🏃♀️🚴♀️ Throughout May, we participated in an exciting challenge to coincide with National Walking Month. 🌍☁️ Our 'Move 4 Earth' virtual challenge aimed for us to walk, run, cycle, or move a collective total of 6,595 miles or 16,487,500 steps, to travel through a selection of European countries known for having some of the best air quality in Europe. 🌍👟We partnered with EarthRuns | Active For Earth, to plant up to 750 trees to celebrate the milestones our staff achieved during this challenge. Not only contributing to our team's physical and mental health but also enhancing air quality and fostering environmental sustainability by planting real trees in areas that need increased biodiversity. 👏 As May came to an end, we were delighted with everyone's enthusiasm and involvement. The goal was to set a difficult yet achievable target that would encourage us all to move more while contributing positively by planting trees. 🤔 However, our marketing lead Lucy Vizor may have been a bit ambitious with the set goal... 💪 Despite the incredible participation and effort from the team, we did not reach our initial target. However, our ‘Halfway Heroes’ made it all the way to Hungary, covering over halfway through this ambitious challenge with a collective distance of 3,077.84 miles or 5,288,306 steps. The true success of this challenge lies in the enthusiasm, commitment, and teamwork we've all shown. Plus, we discovered some fantastic new walking routes during what has been a very busy May for us all! 🥳 To end on a high note we did however do some clever rerouting and took a detour, which brought us to Tbilisi, Georgia, which is the furthest city involved in our Net 4 Cities project. So, we ended on a high note! 🌍🌱Thank you to the whole team who got involved. As a new year begins let’s talk about… wings. Or more importantly let’s talk about flying (after all, what’s the point of wings if you can’t fly - just ask a penguin 🐧). Unless you are born with wings, there are only few ways to get them: 1. Drink Red Bull 🥤 2. Be appointed an Angel for a Victoria Secret fashion show👙, and 3. (Most importantly) work for the international law firm Bird & Bird I earned my Birdie Wings four years ago and my oh my they took me flying. First to Aarhus and later all the way to New Zealand where I met another interesting bird: The Albatross. Now that’s a fascinating bird! Did you know: 🧑🧑🧒 That the albatrosses couple up for life and share parenthood both for the egg and later the little new birdie? No gender diversity issues here. 📏That the wingspans of an albatross is up to 3.5 meters and yet they cannot fly without support from the wind? I didn’t. 🌊 But wildest for me to learn was; once the wind has provided the necessary support for a successful take-off they can fly for years (yes, years!) without setting foot on land. They simply keep on flying while getting things done ✔️ And that brings me to my actual point; Even the greatest birds with the widest wingspans need support to start their next journey. I have lived most of my life by the sea, so I know a little something about wind conditions. So when Casper Moltke-Leth called me a few months back I instantly knew I had the necessary support to spread my wings and fly. I am so extremely excited to re-join the bird nest in Nordhavn in my new role as COO for Bird & Bird Denmark. The journey those Birds are on is not just crossing borders and oceans, they are setting a new standard for what it means to fly. Wishing 2025 will be as exciting for you as I am sure it will be for me. I’m ready for take-off 🌬️🪽🌬️🪽
